Historical Background
The Battle of Leipzig or Battle of the Nations was fought from 16 to 19 October 1813, at Leipzig, Saxony.
The coalition armies of Russia, Prussia, Austria, and Sweden, led by Tsar Alexander I of Russia and Karl Philipp, Prince of Schwarzenberg, decisively defeated the French army of Napoleon I, Emperor of the French.
Napoleon's army also contained Polish and Italian troops, as well as Germans from the Confederation of the Rhine.
The battle was the culmination of the German campaign of 1813 and involved 600,000 soldiers, 2,200 artillery pieces and 127,000 casualties, making it the largest battle in Europe prior to World War I.
Decisively defeated for the first time in battle, Napoleon was compelled to return to France while the Coalition kept up their momentum, dissolving the Confederation of the Rhine and invading France early the next year. Napoleon was forced to abdicate and was exiled to Elba in May 1814.

Special Rules
• Pre-Battle Mother Russia Roll is in effect. Saber rolls have no effect.
• The Elster river is impassable but the Parthe and Pleibe rivers are fordable.
• The French player get one Victory Banner for each French unit leaving the battlefield by
   the bottom left of the board marked "Exit". The Leaders leaving this way give no Victory Banner.
• All the units can retreat or retire any direction as long as it's away from the attacking or battling back unit.
• The Allied units can retreat out of the board (retired from battle) with no Victory Banner for the French player.
• All the units can advance through friendly units if they move more than one hex (not if retreating or retiring).
• If Napoleon crosses the bridge: The French plays with a maximum of 4 cards (discard if more).
• If Napoleon leaves the board: The French player get 2 additional Victory Banners.
• If Napoleon is killed: The Allied player wins immediately.

Allies easy win (18-9)

Things began well for the Emperor in the north and south center. In the left flank too, securing the exit bridge.
But two Forced marchs on right flank almost in a row devastated France.
Nearly 12 attacks in each wave swallowed up france.
The right flank held firm until it had to cross the Parthe River. At that point he was engulfed by allies.
The Emperor fled in tears

Last change - Only 4 tactician cards for both side and the French Infantry get back its normal +1 die against Infantry in melee - GG

mmm ... Actually the Allies seems a little too strong and I look for a last (little) change to balance everything.
Maybe to give back to the French infantry their original +1 die against infantry? Let's check it!

Just a check to some of the rules to be sure you got it:

> The French Leaders leaving the field give NO Victory Banner!
> All the units can retreat or retire ANY direction as long as each step is AWAY from the attacking or battling back unit.
> The Allied units can retreat OUT of the board (retired from battle) with NO Victory Banner for the French player.
> All the units can ADVANCE through friendly units if they move more than one hex > (not if retreating or retiring). SO NO RETREAT THROUGH FRIENDLY UNITS!

So if your retreat is blocked by any unit > YOU LOOSE BLOCKS!

The game is balanced so I wanted to check those points with you.

Battle score 18-11 in favor of the allies, the FRENCH managed to get 3 banners of of the victory for the release of their units, they also managed to withdraw 7 allied units and 2 leaders from the battle. A coordinated attack by the MLNCR and artillery led by LANGERON ended the battle by rolling 2 cavalry, 2 flags and a saber against a single block of hussar.

I want to make a mini-report on a solo game in Epic Leipzig. Of course this is a victory scenario for the allies, but it is great. The rules for retreating to flags and moving through your units are just a "bomb", i am delighted with the scenarios from Guillaume, I want to say a huge thanks you to him for such interesting Epic scenarios

Hello Simon,

1) TY to play it, appreciate and for reporting your feelings & questions
2) Check the few changes I recently did (2 special rules retired and 3 Iron Will Tokens only)
3) Don't hesitate to report your results on the scenario page of this site (top of each scenario)
4) About the Short Supply: Yes we let it in the deck but strangely it never happened in my testings LOL! OK your interpretation was logical. I would have say: If Allied: The unit must go to the closest free border hex (if several > choice) and if French: The unit must go to the closest free hex from the central hex but your idea of Leipzig is better. So let's say to the closest free hex in Leipzig (if no free hex > The closest outside Leipzig).
WARNING > I win a little more with the Allies than with the French so be sure to apply ALL the special rules (mostly the French WEAK Infantry and the general free movements OVER friend units etc.)

Do you keep the Short Supply card in the Tactics pack? If played, what happens, especially against the French? We had it come up last night and said the French unit (Napoleon and the Old Guard) had to retire to Leipzig itself (he was at this stage close to exiting the battlefield. By the way, french won again, 18-16 this time.
