Suggestion for handling the bye's, that may or may not even come into play - haven't looked closely at the scenarios: Instead of having the number of banners won default to the greatest number of possible banners, the way this has been handled in past Ancients tournaments is to award the highest number of banners won by the other players who had played the scenario (conversely, player on the bye is also given the lowest # of banners lost and lowest # of blocks/figures lost). This way, if the round happens to be a particularly well-advantaged side for the opposite group, the player on the bye isn't unfairly rewarded for not having to play it (of course, they are also somewhat unfairly penalized for not having the opportunity to win, but, seems fairer than defaulting to said victory).

007 Domyoji (1615) - Heights of Komatsuyama (Round 5 game for Dan & Mark)

Osaka (Red/Dan) Player: 6 Banners won, 12 figures lost
Tokugawa (Yellow/Mark) Player: 1 Banner won, 18 figures lost

Tough scenario for the Tokugawa as the Osaka starts of with the hills occupied and 1 banner right away. If the Tokugawa do not get an early jump on the Osaka things can go down rapidly for them. In this game that happened to Mark's Tokugawa. Some early bad dice set up the Osaka to take advantage.

The dice were messing with Mark to the point that even I thought a few of his rolls were on a unit he wasn't attacking (you know those rolls, where you roll 2d on a Blue unit and get Red and then follow up rolling on the Red unit and get Blue!).

A final assault from the Tokugawa ranged units almost took down the Osaka leader Goto but he held on to make a final push and end the game.

Looking forward to more games - I think this is another great C&C game that has fallen off the radar.

011 Battle of Okehazama (1560) - Border Fort Marune (Round 3 game for Dan &Todd C)

Imagawa (Red/Dan) Player: 5 Banners won, 11 figures lost
Oda (Yellow/ToddC) Player: 1 Banner won, 20 figures lost

Todd commented from the very start that he thought it looked tough for the Oda army. Motoyasu took on the leadership for the Imagawa army and charged in seeing that Morishige was alone in the battle field. As Motoyasu hammered away the rout that Morishige tried to put together could not muster up enough power to have significant damage.

Without any center command left for the Oda army they attempted to put together an attack with their left side. Here some damage was done but too late to eliminate any units before the Imagawa samurai naginata finished up the battle.

Todd and I commented at the end of the game that we both learned a few things on leader retreats/battle. In most cases you can use your Ancients knowledge to figure it out but as I keep finding there are some cool nuances in SB. The leaders & honor & fortune being some of them.

Dice and cards were very nice for me once again - I feel my retribution for good dice is coming soon
