OT2021 Round 3

 

OT2021 C&C Napoleonics – round 3 – Tamames

RiverWanderer (Mark B ) – French –  8  banners
JFardette (Jim) – Allies – 5 banners

Early French attack against the Spanish left was met with a robust defence, whilst Spanish Artillery picked off a banner and weakened a unit or two. Action then centred around Tamames, the Spanish again defending strongly. Fortune against some Spanish attacks kept the French in the fight. Spanish canister failed to dent a "leadership" combined arms cavalry attack, with the breakthrough attack sweeping away a 1 block Spanish Line, giving victory to the French.

A close game, as shown by the block count and the several 1 and 2 block units in the French rear.

Guerilla action was exhausted early n this game but was instrumental in snagging the first banner for the Spanish.

The French pushed hard against the Spanish left, dominating the cavalry battle and threatening to break the flank until Spanish infantry bayonet charged to form a temporary block. The same bayonet charge brought Spanish Light infantry into action on the other flank.

Now began a race against time, as both sides attempted to consolidate their attacking positions on opposite flanks. The Spanish left held firm against some unlucky French dice and now they started to catch up with a growing attack on the French left and a reinforced position on their own left flank.

With the Spanish now edging ahead and both sides re-organising for another phase of battle, French General Maucune fell to an unlucky leader check, bringing the game to a close.

Game 1

Maxjoezach (Allies) 4 Banners

Michał-Wasil (French) 8 Banners

Much of fights were on the Right French wing and in the Center, but last banner won on th Left French French attacked furiously Tamames destroying Spanish LI and LN with the help of Force March. Horse artillery routed one Spanish LC other two Spanish Cavalry units were destroyed by French Dragoons. Spain gained all its banners on its Left.

 

We were appointed for today 0700 California time but unfortunately Doug was absent,

French positioned into a Force March to assault the hill in the center but a guerrilla token messed up their plans. The LC foiled my plans for grand battery on my left/center and eventually pushed them back into irrelevancy with one ending up on my baseline with only 1 figure and the other eliminated. A lot of ranged attacks until I brought my cavalry down on the French right and pushed them to the brink. Then assaulted a unit on the French left for the last medal and the win. It was closer than the scored indicates as I was able to move some heavily damaged units back behind the lines and out of harms way. Plus, the guerrilla tokens cancelled two key card plays by Renaud.

Round 3 Game 1

French (togan Alper) :8
Spanish (Wade Nielsen):7

All the action took mostly on the right flank and it was a very tense and also very crowded right flank. The lleft flank nearly took no action at all.
The french started with shooting at the center right flank and then pushed all the time on their right flank.

This was a greaat game

Allies Mchał-Wasil - 8 

Good Spanish shooting and timey used two Guerillas decided the day despite of fatal attack of Spanish cavalry.

 

110 Tamames, Round 3. Game 1

Allies: Geoff Heintzelman. 3 banners.
French: Carl Moon. 8 banners.

The French were paniked in first few turns by a Spanish attack, so stunned that they just stood there for two full turns. As the piles of dead mounted, the french battle will returned and mounted increasingly more painful attacks on the Spanish. Plus, the dice decided to favor the attacker. Game 2 next weekend.
