MT15 Results

Round 4 – 505 Wartenburg (3 October 1813)
Greg O (Prussians) - 1 (35 blocks lost)
Mark McG (French) - 9 (8 blocks lost)

Should have been called the Battle of Bleddin, since the vast majority of the action happened around that village.

As you can see from the block counts, Greg couldn't hit, and despite the French desperate scramble for cards, the dice were good for them. At one point it was 6-0 and Greg was worried, but he got the necessary banner to put him, into the Semi-Finals.
Mostly this was the French cavalry exercising their sabres.

So with that result, the Semi-Finals are determined.

So close - did not expected there will be any chance for SF, but it wass 1 banner too far

you shouldn't. You played 4 of 5 games, for 2 wins, and you only got 1 banner from the 1st (pre-substitution) game. So this was 26/27ths your score

Semi Final Game 1 - Need a ruling from Mark to determine banner count please.

Greg O (French) 9 (or 8?) with 33 lost blocks
Bayernkini (allies) 6 with 31 lost blocks

Posting quickly, will recount the battle description later. We need a ruling from Mark on the banner count. French won based on the special victory condition, eliminating 7 allied Cav and Arty units. At that point the banner count was 8 to 6. My understanding is the French achieve the full 9 banners rather than just 8. Michael is not certain, he prefers I get stuck with only 8. Standing by for ruling from Mark please.

This issue has arisen before in C&C Ancients, and I am 95% sure the banner count was taken to be the maximum (9 in this instance).
I also recall Somosierra has such a Victory Condition, and having a ruling made there as well.

So play SF2 as if the score was 9-7, and I will endeavour to track down these precedents, but the Ancients Forum got wiped, so that may well be gone. It could be on the old Yahoo Groups site.
