The Coalition won 19-10. Most of the action was on the French left flank, where two consecutive cavalry charges did great damage. The Russians clawed it back with their own cavalry, in particular the Guard Heavy, which rallied twice. Eventually, the French left was destroyed by Russian pressure. On the opposite flank, sporadic fighting for the village of Telnitz eventually saw it secured by the Austrians, which flipped the three banners for the six villages from France to the Coalition to make it 17-10. Far too late the French advanced their centre threatening Pratzen and the Stare Vinohrady, but the Coalition cavalry took the advancing infantry on the left flank, destroying another unit and killing Marshal Lannes for victory.
