Not sure I'm loading the extension properly. It looks like I did, but I wonder. What is the name of the scenario I should see when I try to start a new game?

I expect the former, but it actually depends on your User settings.

What I do is set up my settings so I get an email sent to me when I have a new Personal Message waiting

I also subscribe to the Forums and get an email when there is new posts.

I also ask people by PM to send me an email address as a backup comms channel, but there are a few I don't have (yet).
I try not to put email addresses into Public forums to keep the spammers and scammers away.

another quick question. Will messages from my oppenent come the same way your communications are coming (meaning I got a general email alert with a link)
OR do I need to go to the Command & Colors Napoleonics website and look there.

I am having trouble loading vassal. Also how do I communicate with my opponent. Sorry, I am as little tech challenged, my son is slated to assist me in next two days.

Save the file, and in the VASSAL Module Library (the initial window), Right click on the CCN Module and Add Extension
You can then load the the fan scenarios as normal

Probably use a number of fan scenarios in this tournament, because most of the official scenarios have been used previously in other tournaments. Players need a fresh challenge, and with the play both sides form, even unbalanced scenarios can show player skill in mitigating the loss.
