OT 2022 - Round 3
Game1
Javelinthrower (Slaves) 3
DanieleC (Romans) 6

Slaves starts aggressively with a Line Command advancing all the infantry units and a More-Fire-Move, answered by a Roman Darken the Sky. All shooting is almost unsuccessful. We need to wait couple of turn to have some action. The Slaves attach the Roman left flank killing a light and a medium cavalry. The Roman does not react and slowly start to deploy his line moving forward the medium in the center.  Action then switches to the Roman right flank where the Slaves attack the line with a warrior and an Auxilia unit supported by other two Auxilia. Some casualties are achieved but not enough to kill a full unit; still 2-0 in favor of the Slaves. An Inspired Leadership action start the counter attack of the Roman on the right flank. A Slaves warrior unit is killed and the three Auxilia reduced to 1 block each. The Slaves left flank almost collapse and the battle moves to the center where the Roman, thanks to a timely Line Command, is able to organize his legions waiting for the Slaves to come. Not much to wait. Warriors and Medium Cavalry attach the Medium Roman line but also this attack is repulsed, even if with some losses from the Roman side. The clash between lines is started and wave after wave the Romans are able to stand the Slave charges and collect the remaining banners to close the Battle 6-3.

 Game2
Javelinthrower (Romans) 5
DanieleC (Slaves) 6 Both Armies starts moving forward, Romans Lights do their job pinging with javelins the Slaves who needs to react charging them to provoke evasion and have them moving away from the combat line. The Roman are the one to open the line clash with a Double Time in the center. Although partially victorious, with a Warrior and a Medium Slaves unit killed the Roman sees his center weakened by the Slaves battle back and is now facing a second line of Slaves at full strength. After the Slaves counterattack the result is 4-2 in favor of the Slaves. The Roman do not give up and continue attacking switching now the core of the action on his right flank, charging the Slaves line with another Double Time. And another time the attack is repulsed.  The Slaves are able to reorganize and counter attack. 5-3 in favor of the Slaves. At this point the battle calms down and both armies spend time to reorganize. The Roman is pinned at the bottom of his field with some Medium reduced to one and two blocks. While the Slaves are trying to rebuild the line the Romans lights harass them with javelins. Nothing is really going on until a Roman Medium Cavalry starts to cry havoc behind the Slaves line. 5-5. Unfortunately, due to some bad dice the Roman is not able to close the battle and the turn after a Slaves Warrior unit can prey upon a Light Roman unable to evade. 6-5 in favor of the Slaves.  =11.0ptThanks to Ivan for those two intense games, unfortunately the God Dice where not always with him. Wish him the best for the rest of the tournament.

This is Game 2 between Kartigan and Bangla.

Kartigan (Slaves) 6 Banners

Bangla (Roman) 5 Banners

My charmed life continues.....

The slaves opened with a Cavalry charge on their Right that eliminated a Roman Light and severely damage the Roman Medium cavalry. The Romans responded by attacking the Cavalry and managed to go 3/3 on the Leaderless Cavalry despite it Evading!

This turn of good fortune was not going to be enough to stem the tide of the Slaves luck though. What followed was 2x Line Commands by the Slaves, plus a Counterattack copying a 3rd. This meant despite having the four-card hand, I was lucky enough to have no trouble moving the entirety of my army forward rapidly.

In the major clash between lines that followed there were many large swings where the dice would suddenly decide that whole units could be deleted and critical flags (or the lack thereof) would play a major role. Ultimately though, these exchanges fell far more to the Slave side than the Romans. Despite this, Tony managed to get to 5 points on the final turn, having a serious shot at getting 6. Instead my battlebacks were brutal enough to setup a Slave victory the next turn, winning 6 to 5.

Thanks Tony for being a great opponent, you really hung in there despite some wilds swings against you.

Game 1
Tomek (Slaves) - 6
John S (Rome) - 3
Sad day for Rome. The slaves managed to brake the right flank of the romans and then their centre held the counterattack. Of course there was a lot of luck involved.

Game 2 - scheduled for Sunday evening

Game 1.
Travis (slaves) 6
Sir Kral (Romans) 0

A good opening hand of cards and some most fortunate rolls for the slaves enabled me to press the Roman right flank and keep my units consolidated. The slave army was able to eliminate some units and withstand a mounted charge from the Roman cavalry to gain the final banner. Any time you have enough options with a four card hand to press an advantage, luck is on your side!

Also attached is Kral's impressive victory as the slaves in Gm 2...

Me and PaulKT were trying to meet for all this time but it wasn't fruitful. Specially due to the time difference but also because the enviable social life that I am guessing Paul must have because he has been very busy, thus he was graceful enough to concede the win since I am guessing that the draw will eventually get us both eliminated from the tournament.
Quite an act of sportmanship.

Be that as it may, reporting that information after the new draw has been made is too late. Scoring has been done.
