When Expansion #1 was issued, there was only one Greek army, yet many of the Expansion #1 battles were between a Greek/Macedonian army and another army composed wholly or in part of Greeks or Greek phalanx formations. The following substitutions will enhance the visual images of opposing phalanxes:
1) Crocus Plain – Replace the tan Eastern Kingdom army (Phocian) in its entirety with equivalent type orange block units and leaders.
2) Granicus – Replace the two Persian (M) units on the Persian baseline with two orange block (M) units.
3) Issus – Replace the three Persian medium infantry (M) units on the Pinares River hexes with orange medium infantry (M) units
4) Hellespont – Replace the brown Carthage army (Craterus) in its entirety with equivalent type orange block units and leaders.
5) Paraitacene – Replace the following tan block units and leaders in the army of Antigonus with equivalent type orange block units and leaders:
• Four heavy infantry (H) units
• Two medium infantry (M) units
• All three leader blocks
Replace the blue block heavy infantry Silver Shields special unit with the silver block heavy infantry (H) special unit.
6) Gabiene – Replace the following tan block units and leaders in the army of Antigonus with equivalent orange block units and leaders:
• Two heavy infantry (H) units
• Two medium infantry (M) units
• All three leader blocks
Replace the blue block heavy infantry Silver Shields special unit with the silver Heavy infantry (H) unit.
7) Ipsus – Replace the following tan block units and leaders in the army of Seleucus with equivalent orange block units and leaders:
• Four heavy infantry (H) units
• All three leader blocks
8) Raphia – Replace the following tan block units and leaders in the Ptolemaic army with orange block units and leaders:
• Three heavy infantry (H) units
• Two medium infantry (M) units
• Both leader blocks
