whereas the cards I drew, Line Command and Double Time were virtually useless for the Parthians.

Round 1: Carrhae
Travis (Persians) 7 banners/19 blocks lost vs. Gonzo (Romans) 3 banners/30 blocks lost

A tale of two games. As the Persians, I struggled to move my units due to rough cards, while getting peppered by the ranged fire of the surprisingly nimble Romans. Just when all seemed lost, due to an expertly played double-time card, the dice and draw favored me once again. His medium whiffed on my cataphract, and i was able to take out some units AND draw a FS card which went along nicely with a counter attack card. I was able to repel a desperate MC charge, and surround and annihilate some exposed units. Overall, I was outplayed, but luck was once again on my side. Neither side had particularly good offensive dice, but the lost opportunity to destroy at least one of my heavies was the game-changer for sure.

Round 4, Anthony's Siege Train
Mark McG (Parthian) 6 Banners won, 9 blocks lost
Gonzo (Roman) 1 banners won, 19 blocks lost

game started with a Parthian mounted charge and a resulting 2 Roman units destroyed, the HWM fled, and a baggage wagon occupied. Roman counter charge couldn't rescue the baggage, but did head towards the exit rather fast. A follow up move-fire-move kept the baggage stationary for the rest of the match, foiling any exit, though it did cost an LC. The HCC then eventually took down the Roman cavalry and the baggage.

Bit of a dud scenario, which is a problem with all cavalry scenarios sometimes, can be very quick, or painfully immobile.

Round 4, Anthony's Siege Train

Giulio (Parthian) 6 banners won, 4 blocks lost
Stormwalker (Roman) 1 banner won, 25 blocks lost

The game lasted 3 rounds and a half and, as we have already seen, the skewed result is not uncommon for this scenario. Marcin played a good game but, as the Parthian, I had the cards necessary to constantly order my three cataphract units and, in general, this is enough to overcome any tactic the Roman player might put in place.

Yes, we actually played the right battle. Not sure why I wrote the wrong one down in the AAR.

Does anyone happen to have Stormwalker's email? I was hoping to setup my match with him but wanted to try and email him directly if possible since I'm not sure how often he might be checking the website here for a PM.

The past 19 November Mark sent us an email which also included an updated list of participants email. In any case I sent you an email with Marcin (alias stormwalker) address.

Round 5, Travis (Persians) vs. Stormwalker (Romans)

Travis 7 banners won, 25 blocks lost
Stormwalker 5 banners won, 32 blocks lost

A very interesting battle, well fought by the Romans. A massive turn netted the Romans four of their banners, as they put the Persians on the brink of defeat with a well planned advance in the middle. However, superior Persian cards and dice were the difference, as the Persians were able to blunt Roman advances, hit from range, and then organize a thrust against the remaining Persian units in the center to secure victory. A very fun scenario and worthy opponent.
