Game 1
Palmyrene (toganalper) 4
Romans (polonus100) 6
Battle begun with Palmyrene regrouping in the center and moving commander to the Right wing. Romans responded with Light range attacks pushing one LC to the baseline. Then came attack in the center. Archers shoot one block of MC preparing ground for HCC attack, but last block of MC survives clash evading.   Romans tried to destroy lone HCC unit and ordered Mounted Charge gaining first Victory Banner. Palmyrene responded with left wing cavalry action (order +4 Left) trying to outflank and cut the retreat of group of Roman cavalry in the center. Order of attacking was very clever and risky, but after first and second lucky attacks gaining 2 VB (MC and LC) two last attack came with only one hit and lone block MC in response killed LC unit and its Leader. It was be game changer. Romans lead 3-2 and have possibility to cut the retreat line of two Palmyrene units, but HC attack with a leader didn't destroy LC. Worse, because attacking from behind MC hit only one time and was destroyed. Last attacking MC unit pushed HCC to retreat and finally destroyed LC unit. Result was 4-3 for Romans. Then Palmyrene used lone-block HCC unit who destroyed with the help of the marsh Roman LC, second attacking HCC couldn't finish lone evading MC  - 4-4. Then Roman Medium Cavalry attacked an cut the retreat of one-block HCC - 5-4. Last attack of Palmyrene  didn't killed lone blocked MC and in response Palmyrene LC was destroyed 6-4

Game 2
Palmyrene (polonus100) 6
Romans (toganalper) 4
After initial ranged attack Palmyrene attacked in center but without success. Well organized counterattack from Roman Left destroyed one HCC unit but with the loss of MC. 1-1. Palmyrene response seems to gain 2 VB but Romans used First strike against Leader unit with the success.  Palmyrene archers responded killing lone Roman MC block - 2-2. Leader survived, but was in danger of following Roman attack Following Roman attack didn't kill both Palmyrene one block LC and the leader who evaded to the baseline. Desperate Zenobia used I am Spartacus card, but could activate only one free unit. Lone block of LC with the leader attacked and destroyed lone-blocked MC unit and killed Roman leader as well - 4-2. Another Roman try to kill immortal LC unit and a leader was without success. Palmyrene gain victory spirit and Leader motivated last HCC unit to attack from flank Roman LC which changed result to 5-2.  Last Roman MC unit came to rescue and with the help of HI  destroyed two LC units - 5-4. Leader again survived. Last attack in effect of playing Clash of shield finished Roman slingers on the left giving victory to Zenobia.
Thanks for Togan for interesting and risky games

Game 1
taliapharaoh (Palmyrene) 6 banners
EZPickins (Roman) 3 banners

A considerable imbalance in dice results from the beginning stacked the odds against the Roman invaders in a game that lasted only 6 turns. After a tepid turn 1 for the hosts, the Romans aggressively sent their MC against the Palmyrene cavalry lines, but were blasted in the battle-back. After surrounding an exposed unit for a 2-0 lead, the valiant Romans pushed forward again, eliminating an HCC and threatening Zabadas, but in the process leaving another unit exposed an eliminated by a MC card. It was Zabadas' turn to advance, and after a heated exchange the score was 4-2 with all action in the center. After some maneuvering, the Palmyrene army went all in after a full strength HI, eliminating it with fortunate rolls and taking out the leader as well for the victory.

Game 2

EZPickins (Palmyrene)  4 banners
taliapharaoh (Roman)  6 banners

EZ came on strong again in turn 1, forcing me to evade or facing certain annihilation. This would become the pattern for the Romans, in an attempt to parry the aggressive moves of Zabadas and his cavalry. My strategy was to blunt these moves, and holding not one but TWO MC cards in my hands from the draw, I felt confident I would find a time where my opponent would leave himself exposed to a counter move. To his credit, he left no such opening, and the cards were never used (in a cav-heavy scenario, no less!) The pivotal turn was turn 3, when his HCC vaporized my MC with a FS card, but I was fortunate enough to get a ranged hit and the last two hits on that unit to open a hole in the center. With the game knotted at 1-1, his remaining HCC advanced and were unable to crack the lines, and one was eliminated the next turn. EZ sent in two LC to take out two 1-block cavalry units, but they were able to be surrounded an eliminated for a 4-3 Roman lead. EZ was then the recipient of a zero-activation Sparty roll, which turned the initiative back to me. Several turns of ranged combat evened the match at 4-4, before I was able to advance on his center/right and take the last two banners. Well fought by my opponent despite another bout of bad luck.

Game 1
gotigerssc (Palmyrene) 1 banner
John S (Romans) 6 banners

Romans used their cavalry and right flank to just absolutely destroy me. On my left flank their two auxilia and one heavy unit (w/leader) used double time to get to the hills and make short work of my light units. I tried to blunt the attack as they approached, but to no avail. In the center, their cavalry claimed two leaders and cleaned up the job. I was fortunate to get one banner by rolling three flags against his medium cavalry unit to cause its defeat.

Game 2
John S (Palmyrene) 1 banner
gotigerssc (Romans) 6 banners
This one was more the story of ranged hits in the center. My right flank never had the cards to assault his light units on the hill so I made effective use of my ranged units and got a good number of hits before finally charging in with my cavalry. He had an opportunity at the end to claim one last figure for the overall win but the dice failed him, and I blocked in the unit that tried for it to end the game.

John and I played this in-person last week at the WBC.
