Game 2

EzPickins 6 (Sparta)
PCScipio42 4 (Athens)

Athens was able to spring the ambush on the very first turn, killing 1 light unit. Sparta quickly rebounded, killing 2 units and a leader to make it 3-1. Athens was able to push on their right, netting the next 3 banners to make it 4-3 Athens. Sparta responded with a timely double time card, exploiting a gap in the Athenian line killing 2 units to retake the lead 5-4. Athens desperate play of "I am Spartacus" sputtered and Sparta was able to close the deal on the next turn, winning 6-4. Great game!

Tense game with a long final phase on a 5-5 score. No Athenian ambush but Joe played very well, effectively covering his damaged units, and obtaining the final victory deservedly. I liked the scenario very much.

Second loss for me. The ambush came too late to be really effective and Joe had good cards and he pressed me all the time. Well played.

The Spartans Line Command moved there right flank and center toward the Athenians. The Athenians attacked the Spartan left flank to try to take Spartan attention from their plan. The Spartans continued their advance in the center but rolls prevented significant damage. Athenians used I am Spartacus card to decimate the Spartan center. Spartans used their hoplite infantry with additional dice but rolls and evades prevented significant damage to the Athenians. Spartans continued movement of left flank units against the Athenian center without significant gains and the Athenians counterattacked to end the game.

A tough game for Mike as his rolls really hurt his early advantage.

Both games were ruled mostly by luck. In game 1, Athenians not being able to deploy the ambush force had to resist the attacks of sizable Spartan forces. Nevertheless, the final result was very close. On the other hand, in game 2 Athenians deployed the ambush force in the centre in their first turn. In response, Spartans unified their forces into a single line and pulled them back to crush the ambush force. Miraculously, Athenians managed to survive repeated attacks and instead of crumbling inflicted heavy loses on Spartans with a handful of lucky rolls. In the final battle, Spartans played the First Strike but again with no luck. Such strange games!

Gonzo Spartans 6-Guilio Athenians 5
2 Spartan line commands for every unit they had and great dice on missile fire Was the edge. Total Gonzo 2 games-Giulio 0 games. Thanks to Giulio for a tense tight match. Both games could have gone either way.

Game one

Game two
Tomek (Athens) 6 banners : Gcallari - 1 banner

Both games were quick and brutal. The first one was decided more by the gods of fortune than by any skills with 2 leaders down. Bloodbath where the final countdown was something like 25 to 23 blocks lost. The second game was also very nice and competitive even with more decisive final result. Fantastic scenario and a great fun for both opponents.
