hello from a newbie was created by Syphax
I've been looking at C&C for a year or so consulting sites such as Boardgame Geek and Slingshot. Yesterday I took the plunge and ordered C&C Ancients from Amazon.com. (Only one left!) C&C looks to be a lot of fun. This website is very impressive, but look for more of my posts under the "rules" section in the near future as I try senarios out. :(

Thanks for the welcome, Admiral.

Started my first game with C&C Ancients using the introductory senario. Wife vs me (Carthaginians). She has a better won/loss ratio in Ancients war gaming. We're just in the fourth or fifth turn. (There was a "dinner truce" after all.) Tomorrow we resume. Those enemy heavies sure look threatening! I'm hoping to split their center and that my mobility can produce a victory.

One can always hope.

Finished the game tonight. Some stumbling over the rules (e.g. we forgot that Auxilia cannot evade), but not too many errors. Compliment the authors of the game and not us.

Final score: Carthage 5 Syracuse 3

The "splitting the center" tactic worked. Some well played cards helped.
