Round 1 Utus River
EXPickins (Barbarian): 4 Banners and 39 blocks lost
Greg (Roman): 9 Banners and 31 blocks lost
This battle played much tighter than the banner count indicates, as the Byzantines had four units with a single block left, including two with leaders. It started out with the standard closing of the gap and missile fire, when the Huns charged in a foot onslaught with 2 warriors and an Aux, but a Roman ambush by a heavy when an Aux was pushed back turned the Huns back leaving two wounded units which the Byzantines pounced upon a wounded aux with a foot onslaught including their two heavy inf, but the Huns countered with a mounted charge using two HBC and a MBC, eliminating both Byzantine Heavies. A Byzantine Aux held on with a single block and caused damage to the Hun heavy cav, and the Byzantines Cried Havoc and got a great roll, but they ran into two back to back First Strikes, which was painful but Atilla's unit was eliminated along with the leader himself. The Huns countered with yet another Mounted Charge but the lead Byzantine Medium infantry held on, with a single block left, repulsing the charge. The Byzantines consolidated into the weakened Hun center and eventually pushed the Hun light cav back into the right corner, repulsed a Warrior and hit in the center and then finished the Hun LBC in the right corner.
