As a beginner, I played this scenario three times.
The first time was a solo play, to understand the mechanics.
The next two times, I played the US, with one victory each. We used two card decks, command points, unit with flamethrower and medic.
At first, given the favorable positions of the German units barricaded in defense, it seemed impossible for the US to win the scenario.
However, with the right tactical measures, it seems to me not so hard for the US to conquer the objective.
These are my choices for US army to win:
be aggressive, four rounds are not enough.
Take the initiative if possible.
In setup phase, deploy the flamethrower unit far away from enemy fire.
If it survives, it is essential to use it against the German units, first with fire and movement, and then as a support unit for the assault. This way, it is used twice.
Finally, use the mortar to block the MG unit after obtaining the LOS. If this fails, weaken the defending unit anyway.
The German MG is a nuisance if it's fired, but if it fires with mg only , it rolls 4 suppression dice against a defense of 2 units per unit, thanks to the elite infantry. This allows you to have defense enough to move forward and aim for the objective without distractions.
The German, outnumbered, is better off playing defense, hoping for good dice rolls, using the medic to defence better and repair some losses.
Ultimately, if the US forces break through, it seems like a good move to place one or two units on the objective hex to hold out until the fourth turn.
i hope soon to play this scenario as German.
