Hi Guys,

it seems that we haev now two Vasal modules for TGW:

1) "PSC games (module by LurchBrick)"
2) "C&C WWI, a game by Richard Borg , published by PCS games" module by Bart de Groot

I started both, and have issues in both of them (I am using Vassal version 3.2.15):
1) first module seems lacking the maps of scenarios; even when choosing the scenario, nothing happens - seems like default setup starts
2) second module have correct scenarios; drawback for me is teh size of components - cards are huge, and the map (even on big monitor, 1900 on 1200 screen resolution) takes whole height. Looks pretty and detailed, but can be very problematic to play

Any feedback from other players?

I've used just the 2nd module, and confirm the image size seems too large, though this only really is a problem trying to read the card in the Hand. I'd prefer the card area was a bit narrower, a bit of dead space between the victory track and the card deck. Also, the British Banner track seems to be slightly off centre, the dots don't correspond to the underlying location. A random discard function would be useful.
It is otherwise a very attractive and usable module. The artillery overlay works well.

I've only just downloaded the Lurchbrick module, v0.2, so I'd guess it isn't finished yet. The scenarios seem absent, and some of the images for terrain seem blurry and slightly askew from the hexes. It seems a very familiar and comfortable module though.

Just to add to the complications, there seems to be another module called The Great War, which involves ship images. No real idea what it is, but it seems to be multiplayer.

Hi, I am the author of the 2nd module. When you say the card is too big you mean the mouseover. A quick-fix would be to edit the module and change the zoom level of the mouseover to less than 1.0 (100%).

I can make the cards smaller, and do other minor changes (like Random discard function), when the expansion on Kickstarter is released and there is a need to update the module. Unless people prefer the 1st module, in which case I will move on to other projects.

this works very well. Thanks.

If I make this change, add the Le Catteau scenario, and maybe change the Module name to The Great War (PSC) to avoid confusion with another Great War module (that is a strategic war game), and upload to the VASSAL module site as v1.1, I presume anyone could down load the changes rather than editing themselves?

Hi Bart,
I think your module looks really good.
Here some more additions I would like to see in it:
  • Randomly discard 3 Command Cards (from hand)
  • Randomly discard 3 Combat Cards (from hand)
  • Draw 1 Combat Card
  • Draw 1 Command Card (directly to Hand)
  • Draw 2 Command Cards (directly to Hand)
  • Draw 2 Command Cards to map (1 to discard)
  • fixing alignment of british VP
  • bolder texts on map (front line, etc)
  • bolder texts for map title
  • adding graphical units summary in chart section
  • adding graphical terrains summary in chart section
I agree it could be updated after the delivery of Tank expansion.
Maybe even more additions could spot in mind after playing first Mini Tournament.

Yes. Best to gather a list of all desired changes after some plays. And then together with the Tank expansion look into implementing those for v1.1.

Bart, are you working on the Tank! expansion for your VASSAL module?
