British gunnery rolling inf hits steadily. French have attack cards and charge to ill effect. The last reeling French unit makes it back to the congregated F Natives in center woods at baseline, down 5-3. British Natives advance and get one F Native to 1 block. French leader and last reg lead 2 turns of attacking and able to turn tide, killing 1 and routing 2 BNatives. Another game that swung wildly in fortunes. Thanks to Justin for game.

Samim (Brits) 5 banners
French able to kill a Reg but then fail their rally, followed 2 turns later by French leader.  Rest of game was hide and seek between French Indians and Brit inf and art.  My computer went down before I could count blocks.  I will see if Samim has count.

Game 5
MM03 Quebec (13 September 1759)
Gonzo (French) 3 banners; 35 blocks lost
Mark McG (Brits) 7 banners; 15 blocks lost

Tough game for Joe, good cards, but very uncooperative dice, as the block count shows.
British started with a lot of left cards, and then drew centre cards, so that pretty much set my plans in motion, and oddly enough that was actually the way in unfolded historically. Townsend led the charge up the left flank, folding it back and ultimately moving into the centre. Wolfe led the boys straight up the guts, and thanks to Joe's crappy dice he went straight through.

Round 1 - Renaud rjvonline (British) 7 VP & 19 blocks lost, vs Samim Togan Alper (French) 5 VP & 27 blocks lost

The opening cannonade was ineffective, and the British opted to move their 1-block ART back. The French moved on their left and were happy to score 2 hits against the British regulars at the end of the line, but the British pulled that unit back and it was never further attacked. Most of the action then took place on the French right as they used Quick-Step to get close to the British who responded with a Bayonet Charge. The fight went back and forth, with an initial advantage to the French (eliminating 1 unit of Regulars and the Highlanders), especially as the British were hindered by a very Right Sector biased hand, but the British held on, in particular their Townsend-led LT in the western woods (although that unit was eventually destroyed), and despite losing Wolfe to a Sharpshooter and having a March Stolen by the French that brought forth further strength on the French center-right and right, the British clawed back, eliminated both Dumas and Montcalm, and secured the win in their Center-Right with a Line Volley that took out one of the two French militia units for the last VP. Well played by both sides. Samim's die luck ran hot and somewhat cold, as did mine, and I'd say his cards seemed better, so I still deem myself lucky to pull it off.

Togan Alper (French) 6 banners, 12 banners lost

Early in the game the Fench were able to kill St Clair with a sharpshooter, which made a big difference in the game, pushing fast and hard the french were able to get the 2 regular british regular inf. The birts tried to form a decend line and push the french back with a volley shot. The indians were able to gather together very quick, reform and attack again to kill the light art and an provencial british unit. Pushing forward with the full force marine unit the french manage to get the last kill.

score was 6:0 obviously..

after the match I did the math.. 9% chance of failing a 6d rally, and 6% chance for a 7d rally

pretty sure I jinxed myself here, because it occurred to me at the start I could lose in a single turn if I rolled badly. I blame the scenario designer... :-/

Game 14 - Fort Carillon

Samim (British 6 banners, 35 blocks lost) vs Renaud (French, 8 banners, 26 blocks lost)

Those who've played this scenario know that it is not an easy one for the Brits. I had played it against Gonzo, and lost 3-8, I think, although I was oh so close to the camps and not the luckiest in that game.

Samim initially waited to form a good line and then moved forward. However, he did lose patience and sent 3 units in a bayonet charge against the French center-right, which failed and resulted i a 3-0 French lead. However, as he got more and more units within shotting distance, he finally scored 2 hits against a commander-led unit and not eliminated eliminated 1 block, but also the commander (Bourlamaque). that was the beginning of his ascension in the VP race, helped by good tactics and some very good die rolls. I took risk at one point in time and sent a commander-led unit of French regulars out of the fieldworks. While the attack wasn't all that successful, I did not suffer any real consequence. Samim made great progress in the center and his left, forcing the French back. Finally he seized a camp, at 6-7 in my favor. I had 1 turn to get my 8th VP or get him out of the camp or he would get 2 VP and win. I played K&C and got a good roll, allowing me to activate 4 infantry units and a leader. My first attempts against a 1-block Grenadier unit in woods were foiled (by the woods), but thankfully I had Light Infantry Skirmish that I could play on my Marines. It put them in range of a 1-block unit of Br Regulars, and they fortunately got the kill for an 8-6 victory. For fun, we ran my ranged attack against his LT in the camp and it failed. This was way closer than you'd think looking at the starting tactical situation (or that my own experience suggested). Congrats to Samim for his good show. I felt fortunate to escape with the narrow win.
