Rd 3 Game 2 Corruna
Gonzo (French) defeats Reynaud (Allies) 6-0
Early scouts stack French hand with 2 Bayonet charges and 2 inf fire first, blowing up the Allied left.  3 Cav charges and break the square gets last 2 medals on other flank.  French had three 4 hit rolls during game.  Reynaud did best he could against my excellent cards and dice and took game with grace.  Thanks buddy.
this sounds worse than the Shellacking David gave me in this scenario..  I scored only 3 hits in the whole game!

Round 3 - Corunna

Game 1
Giulio (Allied) 6
Mark (French) 5

Very close game. With the Allied I was more or less in control of the game when Mark managed to eliminate a two blocks arty and the accompanying leader with a two-dice attack. This tied the game and the final score was a matter of luck in dice rolls (actually the original score of the game was 6-5 for the French but then Mark realized that we made a mistake with a Tac card and proposed to play the last turn again.) Just for the record: the mistake was that we allowed the card "Sappers" to ignore the ford malus (-1) in a melee attack. That card allows ignoring the terrain modifier of the target hex only.

Game 2
Mark (Allied) 3
Giulio (French) 6
Despite the final score, this was a much more "episodic" battle. The game can be summarized by saying that Mark made a great move with his infantry that put my French under incredible pressure. At that point, I was pretty sure that the game was lost, so I played exclusively to pile up medals, unleashing the French line as if there's no tomorrow. French line infantry and cavalry are dangerous when in berserker mode. Add the fact that the dice were mostly on my side and the final score is explained!

Round 2 Bussaco Reynier´s Assault Game 1

Neal (French):6  John(Allies):5

A well balanced and hard fought game with attacks and counter attacks in the centre and right. I was planning one last large attack in the centre only to see Neal withdraw in that sector and then take the last banner elsewhere. Well done

Round 2 Bussaco Reynier´s Assault Game 2

John(French):6 Neal (Allies):4

I attacked with my cavalry only to lose both of them! But at one stage I had two of Neal´s command cards. Also, good artillery fire by Neal helped take another unit so I was three banners down mid game, It was all or nothing now! A bayonet charge in the centre gave me 3 banners in two rounds! Neal did not have the cards to effectively use or protect weakened units and they also fell, making the final score 6: 4 for the French. Thanks for the great game Neal.

North American Playoff
Game 1 Bussaco (Reynaud's Assualt)
Gonzo (French) 6 medals 28 figs
gotigerssc (Allies) 1 medals 28 figs
First turn Grand Manuever followed by cav charge on left killed Port Art and eventually put all Port inf on that flank into square.  French Lt Inf closed and eventually 3 more Port Inf and MI joined the dead, inc one Inf that moved in from center.  Brit Lt moved in and finally killed the French HC and damaged the French LT.  Brit art in middle accurate, but could not kill anything altogether.  Another Grand Manuever allowed damaged Fr LT to flee on left and put Healthy French Inf in face of Brits.  They weathered Brit cav attack, range fire, and Brit inf fire first tactic to kill one Brit LN for win.  Amazing that same # of blocks lost both sides.  Many beat up French units left.  Technically luck pretty average mostly, but Brit totally missed on a couple of critical rolls.  Justin is excellent opponent, but as he said, just not his day.  Game 2 within week.

Quarterfinals (Europe)

Game 1
Giulio (Allies); 5
Mark (French): 6

Long game. The Allies compact their troops around the center while the French try to dismantle them with artillery and cavalry. The Portuguese are Mark's preferred target but they are able to retaliate. The game is always balanced, with the French having a medal of advantage. In the final, several turns are played with the game tied at 5-5. Mark wins using a tac card on his Light to kill a weakened British cavalry unit.

Game 2
Mark (Allies): 4
Giulio (Frech):6

The French are more aggressive in this game and they start to push strong on their right section. In fact, almost all game is played in the french Right, apart from an important cavalry-artillery interaction in the center. The game is balanced, with identical scores most of the time. In the final, the Allies try a bold attack with cavalry and infantry to close the game. Their success is limited and the French counter-attack wins the game.

Both were great games, tense, balance, tactical. It was also the occasion to use Mark's new module. Probably I need some games to become confident with it but it has several excellent new features that speed up the game considerably.

North American Playoff
Game 2
Gonzo (Allies) 1 medal 4 blocks killed
gotigerccs (French) 0 medals 1 block killed        (resigned)

Down 6-1 in medals from first game, there was little margin of error for Jason   Allied hand best I have seen I think.  Grand Manuever to consolodate center and create Grand Battery with the Portugese in center.  French inf close to be greeted by a Bombard, killing a French LT outright.  Jason retired to tend to family at that point and I never got to play all my pretty cards :).  Jason is a regular opponent in the tournaments and usually hands me my head, just not this time.  Thanks for match buddy.
We struggled with the new interface some during the match, particularly end of turn sequence.
