Artillery

The new game has three figures for artillery. That is a big (50%) increase on the old version. Does anyone know the reason/rationale for this change. I have only played the 1st edition and artillery with two figures didn't seem a problem for me?

I am not exactly sure why this was changed and someone with more inside info should probably respond, but my understanding that there was a general consensus that artillery was being too easily overrun (see old posts on BGG Battle Cry forum). Personally, I would have handled this differently by decreasing the offensive power of artillery to 4,3,2,1 and infantry to 3,2,1.
