R4, Harlem Heights
SteveT, Continentals, 4 banners taken, 10 blocks lost
ReynaudV, British, 2 banners taken, 21 blocks lost
This was quite a long battle, with a lot of manoeuvering and with complex terrain. Both sides advanced obliquely, with their left forward. My continentals initially got the better of ranged fire along the road (2-0) but then it gradually equalized here (2-2). Similar ranged fire had weakened the British defending the ridge and a continental quick step then bayonet attack then captured it (4-2). Thanks to RV for a good game - my Continentals had the advantage of better dice and two excellent rally cards without which the score would have been very different.

One reminder that may or may not be useful. The Inspired Leadership card in Tricorne is a bit special as it offers +1 die to units without leaders adjacent to the leader or unit with leader that was selected to play the card. I know that the first time it showed up I didn’t even see the +1 (thinking the only advantage of Inspiration was the selected leader/unit with leader + 4 units instead of 3), and the second time the +1 was applied across all units including a couple with leaders. We did it right the next time. In other words it pays to read the cards and not assume that they work like similarly named cards in other versions of C&C.

Pell's Point
Continentals (gotigerssc) - 5 banners; 10 blocks lost
British (toganalper) - 1 banner; 25 blocks lost

Never had a scout card to get a time pressure medal but I was able to use Rally and Continental Rally to recover 3 and 4 figures, respectively. This kept my units lively and even revived the forward light unit back to full strength from only one block remaining. That plus two British units each failing a 3-die rally roll helped me to the win. I kept my units in terrain cover for the majority of the game and made it difficult on the advancing British to make any solid headway.

Bunker Hill
Continentals (gotigerssc) - 6 banners; 20 blocks lost
British (rjvonline) - 4 banners; 27 blocks lost

This match is a story about failing rally checks. It started from the jump when a full strength British light unit with a leader failed his rally check with the leader also failing. One turn in and I'm luckily up 2-0. Fast forward a few turns later and another full strength British unit fails a rally check (3-0 good guys). Then a couple of turns later my militia struck pure terror in the hearts of a full strength British light unit that also failed its rally check and fled (4-0 good guys). At this point I'm not sure how Renaud did not throw his computer out the window. I was up 5-0 when the British grenadiers smashed my left flank while some regulars were touching up the center and it was suddenly 5-4 with my militia in shambles. Steal a march saved me and allowed me to run away and reposition a couple of damaged militia units. Was then able to line volley into a two figure British regular unit for the win. Without steal a march I probably lose despite going up 5-0....not to mention this is a blowout in the other direction if those rally checks get better rolls.

Too kind. You played a good game (as did Steve and George). The rest is... history. Cheers!

Correction, my game reported by myself below against RV, Harlem Heights, was R5, not R4.

MT25 TricorneRound 2, Long Island, Grant’s AttackContinentals – Steve T, 8 banners taken, 27 blocks lostBritish – Togan A, 5 banners taken, 28 blocks lostThe British put continuous pressure on the Continentals, and I was unable to gain time to form an effective line. Togan’s British put tremendous pressure on my Continental right, and I was only just able to hold onto the House. My left was able to take the Battle Hill and defeat this British flank. By the end, the Continentals had the banners but the block count was about even and the Continental force was shattered. Thanks to Togan for a v tough game, with the rally check dice being very much in my favour.
