Looks like French units only. No Native American units? Any plans for F&I War expansion or scenarios.

15mm scale French army painted and ready for action. Am already planning a multi-player game where the players each lead an attack column against Savannah and the Umpire (me) enjoys blowing them apart with a decent sized gun battery and entrenched infantry. French regular line infantry, grenadiers, colonials, marines, chasseurs and artillery ready to go.

French Regular are stronger (5 blocks).

New units : British Heavy Field Artillery and Rangers, French Marines.

We've been playing Yorktown. I won the 2 games (7/2 with the Continental and 7/1 with the British side

How many French Regular units are there? And how do French Marines operate? Are they light troops?

Summary of New Units Types:

French Grenadiers, Light Cavalry, Light Artillery and Leaders -- All work the same as the British versions of the same.

French Regulars -- Work the same as British and Continental Regulars except they have 5 blocks and the Quick Step card works with them the same way it does with German Regulars.

French Light Infantry -- Works the same way as German and Continental Light Infantry.

French Marine Light Infantry -- Only moves 1 hex. (2), 2, 1. Does NOT ignore flags in forest. Retreats 1 hex. Ranged combat dice are not reduced when moving. Sabers rolled in Melee will score hits. May NOT retire and rally when attacked in melee.

British Rifle Light Infantry -- The same as Continental Rifle Light Infantry except there is a conlfict between the rulebook and the player aid card with respect to whether Sabers score hits in melee for these units (rulebook says no; player aid card says yes). I suspect Sabers do score hits. I'll send an e-mail off to Richard on this. RB: Unlike other Rifle Light Infantry units, sabers rolled in Melee combat will score hits.

British Ranger Infantry -- Classified as an Elite unit (red band). Player aid card says they work like Highlanders for Movement. Rulebook conlficts as it says they move like British Light Infantry. I'll send Richard an e-mail on this as well. (3), 2, 1. Ignores 1 flag in forest. Retreats 1 hex. Ranged combat dice are not reduced when moving. May retire and rally. Saber rolls will apparently hit in melee -- neither the rulebook nor the player aid card indicate that they do not. RB: Movement in Hexes: 1 combat, or 2 hexes when unit moves and can and melee. British Ranger Infantry does score hits when rolling sabers in melee.

British Heavy Field Artillery -- Works the same as British, Continental, German and French Light Artilery except its is (2), 2, 2, 1, 1, 1 instead of (2), 2, 1, 1, 1.

Thanks for the summary. Managed a game on Friday night at a friend's house as my set still hasn't arrived.

Saw the conflict on the British Rifles about hits/not hits on sabres. In my opinion, they should hit on sabres as Ferguson did invent a bayonet for his breach loading rifle.

The Rangers appear to represent the Queen's Rangers who were a quality outfit under Simcoe and very versatile The benefits of Light Infantry (ignores 1 flag in forest, ranged combat dice are not reduced when moving, may retire and rally) combined with good combat power (sabre rolls hit in melee) seems to fit, although the 3,2,1 combat stats seems, to me, a little over generous! Still, there is only one unit of them and they can't ignore flags in the open like Guards and Grenadiers so I suppose it balances out.
The French stormed Savannah on Friday night and almost got there. A couple of lucky rallies from British coupled with still holding all redoubts and a Scout card saved them. Plus we forgot to rally check the British units who were standing in the vicinity of a fallen British general at the appropriate time! An oversight in French vigilance!

Forgot to mention the French marines - good quality troops and historically used as light infantry I believe so it fits. Guess I will have to paint up two units of light infantry French Marines to complete the set.
