Soviet soldiers liked the 76 mm (L/42.6) ZiS-3 divisional field gun for its extreme reliability, durability, and accuracy. The gun was easy to maintain and use by novice crews. The light carriage allowed the ZiS-3 to be towed by trucks and heavy jeeps, or even hauled by the seven-person crew. The Soviets employed this gun both in anti-personnel and anti-tank roles. The gun could knock out any early German light and medium tank. The most numerous Soviet field gun during the war, Soviet industry produced more than 103,000 units between 1941 and 1945, but they were not used in service until 1942. The SU-76 was an assault gun mounting the ZiS-3 on the chassis of a T-70 light tank. These stats represent the base ToI unit.
