This vehicle was an open-topped variant of the M8 Light Armored Car used primarily as a command vehicle. It was a 6×6 with excellent on-road mobility (but only marginal off-road mobility). It featured a 37 mm Gun M6 (L/56.6) and .50 caliber machine gun (mounted on a hull ring) and a .30 caliber machine gun in the front hull. This family of 37 mm guns could fire both anti-tank and anti-personnel rounds (including canister). It had a top speed of 55 mph. The Ford Motor Company produced 3,791 units between mid-1943 and mid-1945. They served the U.S. military in Europe and the Pacific; the United Kingdom, Free France, and Brazil received some examples via Lend-Lease.
