This armored car specialized in armed reconaissance and liasion. The type evolved from (but was larger than) the Daimler Dingo scout car. The Daimler Company Limited produced 2,694 units in three versions between 1939 and 1943. Collectively, the Mk I and Mk II were the most numerous, and featured an Ordnance Quick-Firing (QF) 2-Pounder (40 mm) L/50 gun as main armament in a fully-rotating turret (similar to that of the Mark VII Light Tank). The Mk I CS (Close Support) version featured a 76 mm main gun. All versions also carried one coaxial 7.92 mm Besa machine gun and were operated by three crew. It had a maximum speed of 50 mph. The type served in North Africa, Western Europe, and Southeast Asia. After WWII they served extensively in many Commonwealth countries through the 1960s. This unit represents the Mk I and Mk II versions, armed with the QF 2-Pounder (40 mm) gun.
