I've been wondering about some East Front scenarios for TGW, especially around the Brusilov Offensive.
This leads me to what sort of character should the Russian and Austro-Hungarian armies have?
The Austro-Hungarian army is by most accounts a lesser version of the German army, so probably the same as the Germans with less Specialist Personnel, and no tanks. Cavalry was available and used in a mounted role, but likely dismounted for battle. Defensive positions were entrenched with wire, but nothing like the West Front depth. The army was ethnicallly hetrogeneous, and organised into ethnic units (e.g the Polish Legion, Hungarian cavalry, Tyrolean Rifles, Bosnian infantry), and this must have created some command problems, though the army was very experienced in this structure.
The Russian army is harder, since it was a larger, less developed army that relied upon artillery barrages, including direct fire artillery, and infantry wave attacks. They also had plentiful cavalry, used in a mounted role operationally. No information if they fought mounted. My initial thought was to discount the Russian infantry losses, maybe one medal for every 2 infantry units eliminated. Virtually no specialist personnel.
