Round 2: 004 - Loos (Hohenzollern Redoubt) - 25 September 1915
Chris01 (British): 6 Banners won; 17 figures lost
MK20336 (German): 4 Banners won; 19 figures lost

The British came on very quickly in the center, and then used a 'Direct from HQ' to make a general advance. The first trench taken was very quickly followed by the taking of the second trench. It was then that the good command cards were used up and a bit of a shooting match started, till the British were able to re-mobilize their advance.
The German artillery fired, but had little impact due to poor accuracy. At least one recon card was played by the German player.
In the end the superior numbers of the British and some good dice roles killed the 4 German unit and with two trenches taken the game was at an end.
Again, a very enjoyable game.

Round 1: 003 - Loos (2nd Division Diversionary Attack) - 25 September 1915
alecrespi (British): 3 Banners won; 25) figures lost (included 3 recovered by "Physician")
MichalK (German): 6 Banners won; 19 figures lost

Very nice and enjoyable game with Ale. It started with British swarming the German trenches and immediate response with Mata Hari (very expensive but also very helpful card to defender). That gave time to German forces to regroup and set defence line in second trench. Luckily, Germans got the famous artillery combo (Artillery Bombard with Box Barrage) just when British were approaching second trench – it was not as devastating as it could but still did some damage.

Finally, British made themselves comfortable in German first trench and war on attrition started. To change game dynamics, German bomber attacked in melee, wreaking havoc on British left – but was destroyed finally. In the centre two British MG were devastating, doing cross fire with 6d.

In the end Germans managed to play two recons, which couple with 4 British units gave Central Powers win 6-4.

Don't think a banner can be taken using a Recon card if it is the final banner.

I was not precise enough and completly forgot to describe last action.
Firstly, two banners for Recon Card were 1st and 5th banner.
Secondly, in my last shot with MG, I got 3 bursts on 3 dices (!) eliminating poor british rifle.

Round 2: 004 - Loos (Hohenzollern Redoubt) - 25 September 1915
Ale (German): 1 (though probably should have been 2 - Germans did play a Recon card, but maybe did want the choice rather than the banner, though likely both sides forgot about "race against time" conditions) Banner won; 23 figures lost
Todd (British): 6 Banners won; 13 figures lost

Apologies for the delays, but finally got the final game played this past Sunday. Still very much a learning game for both sides, though getting the hang of things. While the shelling did not provide easy access to the German Trenches for the British, enough there to begin the advance right off. It was more cards and dice working against the British early that kept the Germans going as long as they did. However, eventually the dice leveled off, switching sides to the British, and the cards started coming big for them as well, as they simply overwhelmed the Germans through the superior numbers.

No artillery shots fired by either side. British held Artillery Bombard in hand the entire game, only willing to pull the trigger if aided by Box Barrage, which never was drawn by that side.

Semi-Finals are
Mark McG vs toddrew
chris01 vs plainscape GW

to be clear, Semi-Finals involve playing the scenario twice, once and each side, and the highest combined banner score wins.

Semi-Finals - Round 1: 006 - Loos (Fight for the Trenches) - 29 September 1915
Chris01 (German): 7 Banners won; 26 figures lost (recovered 2 during the game)
Plainscape GW (British): 5 Banners won; 31 figures lost (recovered 3 during the game)

This is an interesting scenario as no one can use Recon cards to gain Victory Medals. The German side took first turn but archived nothing and this was followed by a good British first turn. Not looking good for the Germans and might have made the British over confident as they made a quick early sprint forward on the right flank. This was repulsed with heavy losses on the British side. The game then went into a slogging match between the two sides with the occasional Artillery fire and the game could have gone either way. The British side are always hampered by the fact that they need to move several units up into the Redoubt trenches and while doing that they are not scoring hits on the Germans. So after several turns the German side reached the required victory condition first. A good game and good use of Cards by both sides.

Semi-Finals - Round 3: 006 - Loos (Fight for the Trenches) - 29 September 1915
Chris01 (British): 2 Banners won; 17 figures lost
Plainscape GW (Germans): 7 Banners won; 25 figures lost

As much as our previous game was a slug match, this one was a slaughter. The Germans kept tempo with the British advance and even as they suffered from constant return fire, managed to break their line and win the day. I'm really not quite sure what happens in the heat of war. But I am very glad that this is the first Great War game I've ever one.

Now, to the final!
