Game play

I have a question about combat. Let's say a Samurai unit fights an Ashigaru unit with yari. The Ashigaru has 1 hit. The Samurai has a leader and wants this win so he spends an honor token to roll 5 dice. He rolls 2 sword, 1 triangle, a fortune and a flag. The 2 sword and triangle wipe out the Ashigaru. This would mean the flag is useless. But, does the Ashigaru player still have to lose one fortune token? Or, because the unit is wiped out none is lost.

the H&F roll would in the normal course of event give the SAMURAI player 1 HF token from the pool. The ASHIGARU player loses no HF because if the HF die roll.

The HF loss for a retreat happens only when a unit retreats. Since the unit is eliminated and the dead don't retreat, no HF token is lost.
