Why so many Yumi? By 1590 they were becoming a thing of the past. Nagashino was known for it's Teppo firepower, not Yumi. Can you just dump say 50% of the yumi on each side without runing play balance for senarios from say, Nagashino? Also, If the Imjin War is done, there should be almost no Yumi as the commaders in Korea found teppo more useful

most of the scenarios relate to the Sengoku period, when the Teppo was still gaining favour, and tactics were still being worked out.

No, not really, the first 2 muskets were brought by Portuguese in 1540. and quickly gained favor. So much so that by Sekigahara. A Samurai brught a yumi and it was mententioned because it was "odd". Nagashino was won by teppo more than yumi. The Sohei were keen on teppo. My research paper was the effect of the teppo on the Sengoku Jidai peroid. Yumi were sometimes mixed with teppo to keep up fire while the reloaded. Plus during the Imjin War (1592 - 1598) commanders said only send teppo, other weapons were usless. I can overlook the Samurai with Naginata (they also went to yari. Kato Kiyomasa was known for his skill with one), but when you get closer to 1575 a lot of clans went more and more to teppo.

the official scenarios tend to the 1540 - 1570 period, with some earlier. The latest is 1615.
The first set had a pretty limited army mix, which might account for the scenario OB.

The mix is what I would agree with. But the 1615 scenario which is part of the 1615 campaign to take Osaka and remove any questions of Tokugawa Ieyasu as ShoGun should be almost all teppo. That being said, for the Nagashino and any scenario played after say 1575 you could replace the yumi for teppo as long as each side had the same amount of teppo.
Side note, are these figures no longer made? I see these new maps with little square bases. Is this what the game is turning into? If so, I have to buy a bunch of Samurai and Ashigaru. As well as some Ikko Ikki and Koreans from Redbox.

maps are from VASSAL, which allows online play, and is also a good scenario creator/editor tool.

www.vassalengine.org/

Download VASSAL, and the Samurai Battles module

www.vassalengine.org/wiki/Module:Samurai_Battles

follow the instructions on installing it, and loading the module.
Fool around with it a little to get a little experience.

After that , we need to set up a time to play.
