FYI, the latest VASSAL module is now v1.33.

Mark, I propose we play with this version, unless you want to go with v1.32. If so, can you share it with me?

Round 1: G32 TEDORIGAWA 1577 AD
Boredbeyondbelief (Red) 5 banners 6 blocks lost
gotigerssc (Blue) 1 banner 22 blocks lost
Useugi (red) is trying to stop Oda (blue) from crossing the river.Red decides a good defense starts with a good offense. They charge their cavalry in each section. And take the fight directly to the spearmen. There are some hits, but the line of blue on the river holds.Blue immediately takes units up over both flanks, reasoning that with four units over, they should be able start a foothold across the river. However, the battle back of the cavalry is fierce, eliminating 1 unit and forcing two more back into the river. As blue continues to press on future rounds, they cannot take down the cavalry and suffer more hits through the battling back then they are able to deliver. An all out press of both flanks and the middle by red eliminate all troops across the river and red is poised for victory unless blue can establish some foothold on the opposite shore. In a last-ditch effort, blue tries to get a red unit to defect, thereby keeping themselves in the game, but it is not to be. Blue snipers pick off a cavalry unit, but are unable to cross the river, ceding the final point to red. Victory on the field belonged to Uesugi this day.

Round 5: G36 SEKIGAHARA 1600 AD (Opening Attack)
Boredbeyondbelief (Red) 5 banners 7 blocks lost
Mark McG (Blue) 1 banner 22 blocks lost

The opening attack of Sekigahara has the Army of the West (Red) facing the superior numbers of the Army of the East (Blue). But in the opening skirmish, will numbers turn the tide or will Red’s position on hills and behind palisades be enough to keep the hordes at bay long enough to enjoy victory on day 1?
Blue’s opening arquebus fire inflicts only light casualties, but causes confusion among the Command, who immediately orders the wrong flank to act. As the confusion settles, red’s right flank eventually advances and joins the center line. Blue decides to advance their left flank and the opening moves consist of units dancing into position and the guns taking shots from afar. As blue edges their left flank closer, red issues the order to “hold and shoot”. A lucky bullet takes out a leader, and red draws the first banner of the conflict. And the fusillade doesn’t stop there. Heavy casualties are inflected and a unit is lost.
Blue continues amassing troops on their left for an assault. Red defends with more gunfire, but soon the blue’s infantry makes a push and directly engages the Army of the West. The line holds firm and a heated battle takes place with casualties (but no full units defeated) on both sides. Both sides reinforce their lines, but red manages to also drive some if its forces behind blue and eliminates almost the entire infantry force that led the charge and its leader. The battle turned quickly and the Army of the West was victorious this day.

Round 2 G33 OKITANAWATE 1584 AD
Cavie (Red) 2 Banners 25 Blocks lost
Mark McG (Blue) 5 Banners 15 Blocks lost

Big start with the Ninja Assassin striking down Ryuzoji Takanobu on the first turn, but a hard slog thereafter.. Blue looks deceptively well placed in this scenario, and the Red hand can be a big problem if there are no centre cards. None the less, the Blues have to get in amongst the reds to cause them pain, and that is a two edged sword. Blue lost 2 units to being too adventureous, along with 2 leader seppuku, including Shimazu Iehisa. Thus the 2 main clan leaders fell.

Akaboshi Nobuie made a speciality of hunting down Arquebus troops.

Round 1
Scenario 32

Red- PCScipio42 5 banners; 4 blocks lost
Blue- Beckerdo 2 banners, 22 blocks lost

Red able to get his cavalry up close quickly, while blue took a couple of turns to get over the river in force. Blue missed on an assassination attempt and a heroic stand by a red cavalry bowman unit was able to win the day.

Quick, fun game.

Question about G37 Sekigehara.

Cavie and I played this game tonight. He will report his win later, but we had a question about the special rule "A Chosokabe unit may only be given an order to move off its baseline, when playing an "Order One Unit Right" Command card. Once the Chosokabe unit has been ordered, it may be ordered as normal."

The red have units on their baseline. The blue have no units on their first row. Only a single unit on the second row, and 6 units on the third line. What is the blue baseline?
