Coming off that great victory in the last game, I knew I would not roll that well again, and that this scenario would favor Blue (Judd) due to the sheer size of his troops compared to mine. I predicted that he would win, and he did. However, there was some last minute drama where a fire and hold card hit his big push across the river with withering firepower. But it was not enough to stop him picking off some of my weak troops. This is an interesting scenario due to the victory conditions and lopsided numbers. Judd was quick to move up to gain some banners by taking objectives (rare in CCS). Then his next push would be to take the bridge and cross the river. He quickly ran up a big advantage on me in banners. I then decided to race my two CAV units down his flanks and attack the weaker units. It worked ok on his right, but on the left he had a gunner in a forrest hex that would not move even though unsupported. He must have been chanting "You shall not pass!" It stopped what might have been some fun. However, Judd kept up the pressure and drove to the bridge. One he got close enough I did play the Blue Dragon card which did get one hit. After some battles near the bridge I was able to play the "Fire and Hold" card combined with the fire twice Dragon Card. This allowed me to get several banners including a leader check kill. Was I about to make a comeback? It was now very close, but I had some weak units surrounded deep in his territory, and he was finally able to cross the river on his left and scatter my weak light troops. New terrain here was the village and Takakura Castle.
Final score 9-6 for Blue.
Good game Judd.
