This scenario was called Nunobeyama, but I could just as easily call it the Battle of the Dragon Cards. I started out by playing Infantry Onslaught against the castle which was the perfect card for the task. I was able to slide two samurai over and still battle. I also dropped the first important Dragon card which would make Judd retreat even if I just got one flag. That was all I need to get him out so I could move in and get the castle. It work! Judd have to fallback and then I finished off his unit for the second flag. He committed Sepuku so as not to lose honor. He gained 5 instead, but had to lose one card for command.
I was off to a good start, but noticed Judd kept taking fortune. Hmmm. Maybe he had turncoat. He did. He played it while he was up and he rolled 5 dice, while I got to roll 4. I rolled and got no swords. Surely he would roll one. But he did not. That saved me as he had targeted my samurai unit in the castle. Another good Dragon card played which had a lot of drama.
Later he payed Blue Dragon and got several hits on me from that. Another good Dragon card played.
Judd did a Cav. Charge and came up to the top of the board to knock out my Arquebus, but I played a you only roll two cards and survived his attack. Next turn I attacked back with Panic, but then Judd had an ignore all flags. I rolled 4 flags, and he just laughed. Another important Dragon Card Played.
Judd did pick up two banner by using his samurai units near the castle. He had some bad rolls which was a break for me because I had run out of center cards and was stalling out.
I picked up another flag with a leader check. It was now 3-2.
Finally, I used a Tactical Wisdom card to be able to play in the center, and surrounded one of his units with only had one block. It was in a forest but since I had a mounted leader I had a shot with three dice for two of my units. I used a ranged unit but failed. Then used one of my units that was inspired to roll three and got the hit for the 5th banner.
So, we ended 5-2 for me, but it was a lot closer that it seems. He was really close to winning and with a command of only 3.
I lot of dramatic Dragon Cards for this game.
Good game Judd!
