Assembly
• The Flagship and Battleship units are placed on the small pegs, the rest of each fleet is placed on the larger pegs.
• The cap fighters and long range fighter ships are placed on the circle bases.
• Although, the pegs will fit snuggly into the bottom of each ship and into the ship’s base, a very small amount of glue should provide a more permanent and lasting solution.
Artistic Flare
• Prior to assembly, if you are so inclined and wish to highlight the ship models or even paint each fleet in your own unique paint scheme, it is recommended that the figures be washed in a warm soapy solution to help remove any casting agents prior to painting.
Storage
• The game box is very sturdy and has ample room to house each fleet and the game’s other materials.
• Use the plastic bags from the ships to store the cards, dice and tokens.
Escalation Packs
• It may be tempting for some players, especially players that are already familiar with the Commands & Colors system, to include materials from the escalation packs right away. However, it is recommended that players ease into the game, learn about the various starship units, how also the Command and Combat cards can work together and all the other basics before getting into the escalation pack material. Escalation packs do indeed add more play depth to your RED ALERT game, but tackling the basics and escalation material right from the start can make the game appear more complex than intended.
• Neither the Confederation or Commonwealth had built a Dreadnought unit for their fleet until well after BD 17, meaning all the scenarios in the core game were fought without either side deploying a Dreadnought unit.
• On the other hand, the Othorians, brokers that they are, had been selling Carrier units to both the Confederation and Commonwealth for some time. As a matter of fact, historians note it was the Othorian Carrier units that were sold to the Commonwealth that helped defeat the Krawl invaders in the early part of the 15th epoch.
• Warning, do not try the Meteor Escalation Pack until you and your opponent are very familiar with the game.
• Warning, do not try the Space Rift Escalation Pack until you and your opponent are very familiar with the game.
