Heilsberg (Opening Phase) - 10 June 1807
After repulsing two days of Russian attacks, Napoleon again resumed his advance up the left bank of the River Alle. While the Russian army, not defeated, retired to a strong position near the Polish town of Heilsberg. On June 10th, Murat attacked and quickly took the village of Launau. His advance beyond Launau, however, was stalled when he encountered a strong Russian force near Bevernick. It was only after Soult’s IV Corps and artillery had moved into position, that by early afternoon, could the French force the Russians to retire from the outlying villages back to Heilsberg.

• The River Alle is impassable.
• The Bevernick Stream does not stop movement, but has the battle restrictions of a fordable stream.
• Pre-Battle Mother Russia Roll rule is in effect.
It is not clear if the fork in the river terrain belongs to the fordable Bevernick Stream or the impassable River Alle?
The fork is considered to be part of the impassable River Alle.

The French got off to a rocky start, losing two inf units in the center. The Russians were also able to get to VP for the town hexes. The towns were turned info fortresses. The French were worried until the French left were able to mobilize their CAV units. Two Cossack units were destroyed, and finally the French destroyed the Russian CAV. Due to some good tactics cards and Le Grande the Russians were able to move ART freely getting one ART all the way over to the Russian right. However, the French Heavy Cav put a Russian LT into square on the hill next to a Russian ART. With one French INF the battle on the hills ended up with two Russian units destroyed. It was now French 6 Russia 4. The French LC took out another Russian line iINF, and a Rally card helped the French regain strength and finish off Russian INF in square for the game. In this game the Mother Russia roll was heavy on Cossacks, and one fieldwork. The Russians placed it between the two town hexes, but it seems it would be better on the Russian right were they are weak. French win 8-4 with 2 Russian VP for the towns.

An interesting scenario which developed very slowly until a LGM card allowed the French to redeploy the Grenadiers and artillery through the shattered Russian right.
Oops. Meant to say French attack on the Russian right below.
Had a strange game of this scenario last week. The Russians won 8-0!! French didn't get any Tactitian cards and their other command cards were almost all Scout and Probe stuff. French also had lousy dice. French attack on the Russian left was repulsed with great loss in blocks by French. Russian cavalry swept in on the French left and cleaned up the single block units then ended the game with pressing in on the center and a Bayonet Charge from the Russian infantry. I played the Russians and didn't even realize that the French had no banners until I reached my 8 for victory. It didn't feel that overwhelming, but the combination of really bad cards and really bad dice did the French in.
The VP is gained immediately, because it´s the first
VP option in russian rulebook

Is the Russian victory flag for occupying a town a turn start flag OR as gained as soon as a Russian unit enters a town?
We got another answer of Richard Borg, because of the scenario.
• The impassable River Alle includes the fork tile and the part south of the fork.
Again all dear scenario designers/publishers. Declare and show all important tiles, victory hexes and other important things clear (with colored borders round the hexes e.g.), so such questions don´t come up
Alessandro will replace next the current scenario picture with a new one.
you are right, it´s also a victory hex for russians,
and as i wrote above, i wished, Scenario Publisher declare clear the river parts, if river spread up into different sections (because in Heilsberg its also not clear, which river part on French left is the impassable Allee or fordable Bevernick) and all victory hexes.
Best they use a Scenario Editor like this vassal module, with a lot of different color borders and other markers, to show all clear!
I always update in future this unclear hexes and victory conditions, after
the scenarios will clarified.
Is the town hex of Launau a Victory Banner for the Rusians? The text says "all towns" and not just those on the Russian side.

Horrible battle for me! Balanced or not: When the cards AND dice don't want you to win ... You won't win and you will know we are far away from chess LOL!
And i wished also, Scenario Publisher declare clear the river parts, if
