MD09 Borodino - Shevardino Redoubt & Utitza "Grand Battle" (5 & 7 September 1812)

Last battle played.
Warning: it was 1 vs 1 and played like an epic one, removing the first, third and fifth red dotted line and adding 2 tactics cards per army.

Russian win 17-16.

Very tight result
During the whole battle France was under 6 or 7 flags.
There was one turn when the French made 15 hits out of 18 dice rolled.
A final French push gave it a lot of excitement.
The French general was determined to win without his units abandoning the battle.
And so it was...

A hard fight between Leon and I against Nicolas his father and Guillaume my old comrade.
16/11 for the French but victory was close for the Russian who led 12/6 at a certain moment of the game.

Michel's Vassal scenario (in the v2.2 Epic Extension) specifies 17 banners, so I have updated the scenario here to reflect that.

On checking the battles in this scenario I have concluded that the mash-up of the two standard scenarios is ill-founded.

The two battles took place on different days. The Battle of Shevardino took place on 5th September; the Russians being pushed back onto Utitza.

Furthermore, Utitza is "left" of Shevardino; forming the right flank of the Battle of Borodino proper which followed two days later.

The good news is that the official extended Grand Battle scenario for Borodino includes Utitza.
