The tournament is just finishing, so it's too late for this time. But a new one will be starting in the spring.

Mark, Looks like we are the last men standing. How’s your schedule looking?

Mark McG (Russians) 10 banners, 42 blocks lost
Jim (French) 9 banners, 34 blocks lost

We agreed to use identical Mother Russia start rolls, and that roll was 2 ART, 2 CAV and 1 INF.. very colourful, but not so good for the Russians. 2 Cossacks bulk up the blocks lost..

The scenario revolved around 2 actions, a protracted fight over Eutritzsch in the Centre which consumed most attention, and the cavalry actions on the Russian left. The Russians won thje cavalry battle, but lost the cavalry raiding the French rear and trying to hold back the French infantry on that flank. In the centre, after initial setbacks and squaring from the French cavalry charge, the Russian cavalry dominated and put the French into squares. However, the initial Russian lead was slowly whittled back until the score stood at 9-9, and Jim went for 3d on a single block Russian LN and missed. At this point he had to drive out the Russian paper strength artillery from the village, and missed that too. So I clawed out a win based on his unfortunate dice. Knife edge stuff.

I failed to make a logfile, and Jim was trying to rescue his from failing because it was too large. So this was the end map
 
 

Sorry for the delay everyone, Mark and I are struggling finding an agreeable time and hope to finish up in early January after the holidays are over.

Another tough game..  and I was looking pretty shaky for most of the match until 2 good turns with perfect rolls netted me 4 banners in quick succession. Jim had just taken 4 geographic objectives with LGM, so I needed the final banner in the last turn or I lost.

The French right was asleep, almost no cards for them. My initial plans of pushing in the centre were limited by the card draw, and an early played Elan card resulted in 4 CAV and 1 ART that rather drew me too early into a cavalry battle in the middle right that I lost badly. Fortunately Jim's cards seemed like the same dross I was getting, so that side simmered as a pushed up the left as my only option. Overall that left flank probably worked out equal, but my initial success drew Jim's attention away from my terrible Right.

In the end it was the centre that mattered, Delmas leading his men into the town and using it as a base to destroy Russian infantry. Second last turn was pivotal, with a Short Supply removing a Light Cavalry off the bridge, creating an opening for a lucky artillery hit and kill on a 1 block cavalry, Delmas dealing another kill, and the French (Polish?) lancers destroyying a French Light cavalry that had been torturing my left flank. 3 banners in a turn was good times, and got me to 9 banners which ensured it would be at least a tie breaker.

Two fantastic games to end the tourney, and both literally came down to final dice, win or die. There’s no shame in losing that way, although I hoped for a better result. Too bad the time difference between the US east coast and Australia is so tough, I could happily play Mark all the time. Thanks to Ben for running the show and all who participated. Great fun and already looking forward to the 2023 edition.
