Round 6
EPIC07 Bussaco (27 September 1810)
Toganalper (Brits+ Port.) 8 (62BL)
mantra (French) 13 (59BL)
With both armies drawn up bloody mayhem ensued. Most of the early action was on the French right flank. The Brits playing a bit aggressive around the town of Sula, and gave the French a bit of a bloody nose. Not to be undone by the red coats, the French pushed back. This was the theme for the whole battle on that flank. Halfway through the battle, both sides were looking somewhat tired and showed signs of buckling, but neither commander would give up. On it went to the bitter end. The French around this time gave up trying to do something on their left flank, and went all in, in the center in order to ease up and support their right flank. This swung the battle around to their favor and victory seemed certain and soon for them. That is until the dice became fickle for the French for quite a few rounds of pain and hardship....and indeed, the loses mounted for the French. It was truly an epic battle in game play, drama, and time (the game went close to 6 hours...if only those dice didn't leave the battlefield, it would have been a lot shorter). Samim, as his usual self, played a very tight, challenging and fun game.
A note on our Vassal files. A few hours in, I had to re-sync, and lost the running file up to that point...don't know why that was. I also didn't realize this problem until several plays into the re-sync'd game. So, in reality, the only file I have of a running game is the later half (the second file.)
