Writing Scenarios was created by jbewer
Having had a look at some battle maps at www.britishbattles.com I was wondering how the senarios are created. If you look at the Battle of Salamanca for instance, the actual battle map has little resemblance to the scenario in CCN. So my question is this: how do you take a historical battle and turn in into a CCN scenario?
Given the prolific CCancients scenarios I'm sure there is heaps of advice on this out there.

Hello,

yes.. thanks for the link:)

how do you take a historical battle and turn in into a CCN scenario?

Two weeks ago, I made a new scenario for C&C Napoleonics and took some notes resuming the main steps I followed.

I wrote them in a pdf document and people eventually interested may download it : here

This is just ONE approach and hope it can help those wondering how and where to begin their work.

The first page includes the notes and the second page, the scenario by itself.

Thank you to Hawkmoon von Köln for our intense playtesting !..:cheer:

Hi Pascal,
sorry for being late but I had to delay publishing of both your scenario and your "making of" for some personal issues.
I'll try to publish it tomorrow.
Thank you for your kind patience.

Hi All,

The scenario of Orthez was designated with the Scenario Editor and during our playtesting in Club, we noticed that the Bend Ford and the Windmill tiles were on the same tile : but there is only one such tile in the Game Box..:S

A Town tile can of course be used instead, as the characteristics are identical..;)

However, I made a list (recto/verso) of the 56 tiles used in the game :

I thought it could be useful, writing a scenario, to avoid this kind of bug.

Cheers

Thank you Pascal,
this one is a great addition!
I'll surely add that infos on the website ASAP.

I also suggest you to add a "chart" inside your Vassal Module that link to this image (that sum up every terrain hex).
I believe it can be even more helpful to have it inside "Map Editor".
:-)
Let me know what do you think about it.

Yes, Alessandro, I had thought too for inserting this bitmap as a chart in the scenario editor..;)

More, I was also thinking about a pack of the real 56 tiles in the editor, with the possibility for flipping them.. Just wonder if this is possible and really useful (no interest for complicating too much the use of this tool)..
