Does a friendly leader in one of the two hexes that cavalry need retire into block the action?

For instance, in the example on page 16 of the rules, if there was a friendly leader on either of the two wood hexes, can the cavalry retire and reform?

It seems from the rules that the unit must be able to retire 2 hexes (unlike Ancients where 1 hex is allowed if it is the only option).

A friendly leader doesn't block movement - only stop it.

Therefore my thinking it that it would be okay to retire onto a leader 2 hexes back but not one only 1 hex back.
(For the example on p16 there would be no R&R if the leader was in the first woods hex but hex D would be okay.)

Hi guys,
here we come with the official answer from Mr Borg.

(RB) A cavalry without an attached leader may Retire and Reform one hex onto a hex that contains an unattached friendly leader (i.e. a leader alone in a hex). The leader is immediately attached to the unit and the cavalry unit does not have to retire and reform its second hex.
