I’ve looked into this before, going off the FAQ and separate threads. From that I conclude that either Battlefield Smoke or Leader Orders a Fallback might be played by the active (on turn) player in response to First Strike type card by the passive player. Of course, if the active player already declared a different tactician card for the combat, then too bad.The issue of 'Battlefield Smoke' after 'First Strike' is addressed in the 'Battlefield Smoke' card discussion. It is allowed, as per R. Borg. There is slight but perhaps a significant difference between the wordings of the two cards. What are others' thoughts? For the lawyerly-minded it hinges on whether a 'First Strike' itself counts as 'the opponent declares an attack'. Personally I would say yes but I have heard counter-arguments........
