Round 5 Game 2
Allies Gonzo 6, blocks lost 26
French Steve 4, blocks lost 33
A long, tough game with slow maneouvering by both sides in the centre to gain an advantage. Long range Allied rifle fire and French cannonades had little effect. A threatened Allied right flank cavalry charge was dispersed by Short Supply followed by a successful attack by a unit of French LC. French cavalry attacks on both flanks, with limited infantry and artillery support, made little headway against two Leader Unit Reforms and one Rally, with the depletion of the French cavalry and score 1-1. Finally the French attacked with Forced March in the centre, but in the resulting melee were overwhelmed by fresh Allied troops, with the final score 6-4 favouring the Allies.
An incredibly close pair of games, 6-4 both times favouring the Allies, and the block loss count being only 1 different.
Thanks to Joe for a very tough game over two sessions and to Mark for organizing the tournament yet again!
