Game 1
EZ Pickens (Allies)  3 Banners
Mark McG (French)  6 Banners

the action started on the French right and developed into a hard struggle between the Allied infantry and the French cavalry. Ultimately the French cavalry prevailed, squaring up 2 units and this section settled as the French infantry could be brought up to finish the job. However the cost was a French LN and a ldr for a Brit LN, LT, RL and chased Wallace off the board.

On the French left, a cavalry charge was not very successful, though the Allied response was sadder. In the end the French LC got away.
At this point the Allied centre was trying to shift the the French right to chase off the cavalry, and the Allied cavalry came forwards, squaring up infantry and breaking the square. French infantry had to chase the cavalry off. Next, the Allied centre came forwards a little, partly just to get around the squares. This was enough to be in Bayonet charge range which the French infantry conducted, and this stabilised the French left and gained a banner in the centre.

The Allied counter gathered the 3rd banner, but this was the high tide, and from here the French could counter and get a banner (LN) and then square against the Allied cavalry charge happy in the knowledge they could get the 6th banner from the square next card play.

Game 2
Mark McG (Allies)  6 Banners
EZ Pickens (French)  1 Banners

Allies started with good cards and continued to draw them. In particular I had Forced March and Cavalry charge, and picked up Bayonet Charge.
First moves were to form up the cavalry, which then charged, and move all the infantry (bar 1) into the Centre. The Cavalry charge went off in typical British fashion, a ragged and ineffectual affair, including a disappointing Break the Square attack. In two turn I traded a Portuguese HC for the French LC, the other 2 cav got away damaged. Importantly, the French infantry came forwards to trap the cavalry, which opened them up to the Forced March.

The FM went off well, writing down the French significantly, and eliminating 1 LN. The French response was unlucky to not get 1 banner, but the follow up Allied Bayonet charge was legendary. Concentrating on the French left, the first attack rolled 3 hits and a flag on an unsupported LN without retreat path (1 banner), 2nd attack the French ordered fall back, but scoring 2 Infantry hits on 3d eliminated the unit, and then eliminated the leader (2 more banners) - the fell back into graves. The 3rd attack score 3 hits on 4d, eliminating the French LT (that had survived the broken square). 4 banner and victory in 3 rolls..  .. I apologised..

Game 1
Gileforn (Allies) 6 Banners
Michał-Wasil (French) 3 Banners

The game started from the Allied rush on their right flank. They have played cavalry forward and started a battle for the hills. The main part of the next game was played there. Center and right French flank were very calm. British artillery was placed for the good position in the center and shooted a little to the infantry. French worked same. As a result all was finished with bayonette charge.

Game 2
Michał-Wasil (Allies) 3 Banners
Gileforn (French) 6 Banners

Allies have made good maneuvres have been preparing for a strong attack on there right. French tried to formed a line and place forward their cavalry and artillery. The half of the game was made with cavalty units on the French left. One of the light cavalry have been totally destroyed with a leader after good bloking way bay attack. But with the next turn French attacked with leadership and totatly destroyed with 5 hits british artillery and then 2 blocks of Portuguese cavalry.

Thanks to Michal for the good game! That was hard and also with some part of luck.

We'll play the other side in two weeks. This was a hard-fought victory and a great game played by Ben -- I feel luck to have pulled this out.

GomJabber vs. Rand
R5G1

Rand – French – 6 Banners
GomJabber – British – 2 Banners

The French move aggressively on their Right flank, move through the woods and meet the British head-on in the hills. Both sides trade casualties, then an artillery deployment moves the French Field artillery into the hills to support the French Line Infantry. As the British casualties start to mount before the French onslaught, they move units from the center to support their endangered Left flank. The repositioned French Field Artillery attacks a damaged British Line Infantry next to it, but the British launch a First Strike and heavily damaged the Artillery. The British then launch a counter but a high numbers of flags allow damaged French units to escape destruction as they retreat from the front lines. A full-strength French Line then takes position in the hill line, and in melee fighting, almost destroys a Portuguese Light Infantry and a British Line Infantry led by Wallace. This then begins a chase by the French Line to catch the Allied units as they try to withdraw before they are destroyed. Wallace’s unit is run down, with Wallace escaping to the North, but his French pursuers are cut off and destroyed.

With the British Left almost devoid of units, the Portuguese Line Infantry units led by Power march up the middle of the field to engage French units entrenched along a hill line. The French launch a timely Bayonet Charge and catch the Portuguese off balance, causing heavy causalities and push them back into the British units behind them where they are trapped and on the next turn, destroyed.

The French Left and British Right flank remains mostly dormant for the entire battle.

Very close game, the one turn where two damaged French units were able to retreat from flags allowed the French to reorganize and win. Thanks to GomJabber for the game, look forward to the next one.

Steve – Allies. 6 banners taken, 19 blocks lost.
Gonzo – French. 4 banners taken, 27 blocks lost.
Battle began with both sides preparing their right flanks for attacks, and both sides moving their left flanks towards the centre. The Allies launched Cav Charge at the far left of the French, forcing two units into square, but at the cost of one Portuguese HC destroyed by musket fire and attacks from the square (0-1). Allies then Forced March up the centre, using Infantry Forward Leader to reach a French Light in square, which was destroyed (1-1). The French attacked with all their LC and one unit of Inf at the advancing Allies, forcing the isolated Rifles into square; the LC were badly damaged by the British Light’s Infantry Combat First, but the Portuguese Light Infantry were destroyed by the French Line (1-2). The Allies continued the advance in the centre with Assault Centre, with Allied Infantry destroying 2 units of French line and damaging a third (3-2). The French followed with LGM, retreating towards the back right of the centre section of the battlefield while another Line Inf advanced rapidly to the isolated, squared Rifles. However, with their powder in Short Supply, that French Line had to return as rapidly to the rear. The Allies continued to advance obliquely in the centre, including with another Forced March, final score 6-4.
Thanks to Joe for a tough game, he defended tenaciously against some great Allied cards.
