Bangla vs Soul 1st

Game 1
Bangla (Allies) 6 banners won (7 blocks lost)
soul1st (French) 1 banner won (29 blocks lost)

The Allies began by trying to clear out the French to their left, They succeeded in pushing them back, and reducing the HA to 1 block, later killing the LN there to to leave a relatively secure flank. But then the French attacked in the centre. The attack was thrown back and the Allies won the resultant firefight. With the French back licking their wounds, the Allies set up a Grand Battery on the left centre, then slowly advanced on the right, squeezing the French back towards the village. A late cavalry charge by the French wiped out the HA, but a counter by the FA and Grenadiers neutralised the threat, then a final Bayonet Charge through the centre sealed the French fate.

Thanks to Twan for the game. This is a hard one for the French. The reverse match will be played next week.

Logfiles attached. There was an interruption in play, so there are files #1 and #2. Not sure if there's a gap in between or not. Also, when Twan (French) played his Elan card, we forgot to shuffle the decks, and he didn't take a TC either. Not sure if it would've affected the result, but just a reminder for the future.

sansmerci vs proyce

Game 1
proyce (Allies) 6 banners won (29 blocks lost)
sansmerci (French) 3 banners won (29 blocks lost)

The French began with a push on their right flank and there was intense fighting around the woods and hills. The British lost their LT unit and the French lost their LC. Other units also suffered damage and both sides withdrew over the next few turns. Action shifted to the center with a lot of back and forth and some losses on both sides. The French FA on their left flank was picking off Allied infantry blocks here and there, firing across the river. The French withdrew behind the ridge in the center. The Allies played Forced March to the other side of the ridge to be in position for a Bayonet Charge. The French played Elan and launched a devastating attack, with 11 hits in 16 dice. The British GR unit was eliminated, and British LN and GG reduced to 1 block each. The Allies withdrew and the French were unable to follow decisively. The French continued to probe in the center and launched an attack through the woods by the river. They were repulsed with severe losses. Then the Allies played a Bayonet Charge, followed by a Infantry Strike First card wiping out a French attacking unit on the French turn, followed by another Bayonet Charge, essentially ending any French chances. A Portugese LT and British HA got the last banner deep in the French right.
It was a close fought and bloody battle.

Bangla vs Soul 1st

Game 2
Bangla (French) 6 banners won (16 + leader blocks lost)
soul1st (Allies) 3 banners non (24 + leader blocks lost)

AS a repeat of the first game, the Allies began by trying to clear out the French to their left. They succeeded in pushing them back, but were eventually repulsed losing both LT units and having their cavalry mauled in the process. But one French LN was reduced to a single block and effectively out of the battle, the French HA destroyed, and the leader gone as well.
After that there was much shuffling of the British forces. With the French having pulled back behind the hill in the centre, the British began an expansive flanking movement to take the hill out of the game. It looked like it could work too. At the crucial moment, the French regained the heights and challenged the advancing Allies. It could have gone either way, but in the end some decisive firepower from the LN's on the hill won the day.

Thanks again to Twan for the game. He is relatively new to CCN, but in this battle fought really well and at one point the game could have gone either way.

Game 1
plainscape (Allies) 6 banners won
toganalper (French) 4 banners won

The French were very bold and charged directly into the Allied center. So, despite heavy losses on both sides, the allies were able to recover just enough to crush the French army. There was also some skirmishing on the French right with the Cavalry and the British Light was able to do some damage and stave off attacks.

Game 2
toganalper (Allies) 4 banners won
plainscape (French) 6 banners won

First there were some skimishing on the right that ultimately lead to nothing. But then, the Allies unleashed a major attack in the center that would just let up. that's when both sides started taking losses. But the French position and a really lucky couple of dice in the end made the world of difference in the final outcome.

Thanks for the game.

Game 2, Round 1
Proyce (French) 1 banner 24 blocks lost
Sansmerci (Allies) 6 banners 6 blocks lost

The allies got great cards in this one with great rolls too. The action took place in the center with the allies moving to positions to use a force march and the French mustering behind the hill and in the woods. The Force march killed two French line and battered the LT to one block. The French counter took out one allied unit. After the loss of a third French LN the Allies got a Bayonet Charge which killed three one and two block French units. Very quick game. We had some connection problems and my logfile did not work. I thank Phil for an enjoyable two games.

Game 1
Mark McG (French): 6
mantra (Allies): 4

A slow French attack as I sorted my cards. Pushing up the Right flank using the Horse Artillery & cavalry to good effect.
An Allied Bayonet charge across the centre was repelled (at cost) including finishing off the Grenadier Guard. At this point I was up 4-0, but the Allies came again, and suddenly it was 4-3. Every thing French in the centre ran for it!
Eventually the French cavalry broke into the rear and managed to snatch a win.

Game 2
Mark McG (Allies): 6
mantra (French): 4
After settling the Allied line, the cards lead me to a centre attack, although preceded by a very profitable Cavalry charge on the Allied Left that killed the French horse artillery with 5 dice.
The Allied attack did rather well, and was up 4-0 at one stage, and then the French Line swung into action and it evened up pretty smartly. The French cavalry again plunged into the Allied rear, but came up short against my artillery. Managed to polish it off for the win as my Right flank swung into action.

Game 1
Ez Pickins (Allies) 4 banners
Greg O (French) 6 banners

This battle was very tense with the fighting taking place on the left and right flanks, French pushed hard on the left/center and killed two units and Picton, the Allies fought back and went ahead 4-3 but the cards didn't allow the allies to do anything in the center or left, and the French played charge if charged, 2 cav charges and a leadership (LC had a leader by then) to win the game on the right.

Game 2
Greg O (Allies) 6 banners
Ez Pickins (French) 1 banners

Allies came on strong in the center/right, and launched a bayonet charge to break the French line, and then pushed hard on the right to finish the fight. A very tough game for the French who never were able to get the initiative.

Game 1

Allies (Gonzoj): 6 (27 blocks lost)
French (christhibault): 4 (24 blocks lost)

A good battle that saw constant British pressure to collapse the French line. The French attempted to hide behind the central hills but the Brits hunted them down.

Game 2

Allies (christhibault): 6 (10 blocks lost + 1 General)
French (Gonzoj): 2 (33 blocks lost + 1 General)

The Allies rolls and cards were completely one sided in their favor. We suspected that the French hit around 10% of it's rolls and the Allies hit around 50-60%.
