Round 3 Brandywine Creek

Greg O: British, 6 Banners, 27 Blocks Lost
Trout: American, 3 Banners, 30 Blocks Lost

A great battle, but was a long slog as the Brits only had center cards for a large portion of the fight, with all 5 cards in the hand in the center at one point. The Americans pulled back in the center and the long slog across the ford commenced, with an arty leading the way and even moving adj to a Yank in the woods and engaging in arty melee. In the end, the Brits wore down the Yanks with some sabre and bayonette work from the cav and Hessian line.

Round 2 Hubbardton
Top team Player Tony (British) 7 banners - 28 blocks lost
Bottom team player Nekengren2 (Americans) 3 banners - 33 blocks lost

Americans started out with Scouts in their hand. British advanced in the center and the right with Americans retreating and replying with fire. British advanced on Rt flank obtaining 2 medals. Both sides exchanged 2 medals in center with British advancing but then being bloodied by American Ranged fire. Le Grande Maneuver enabled British to get the bulk of their Lt flank forces to the river and then Rifle Lt Infantry used their ranged fire to effect. Americans advanced and Forced Marched but First Strike card saved a British RL. British Ranged fire then softened up Americans and British LN finished off an artillery unit to end the battle.

Seemingly very tough for the Americans to win this one.

Notes in Brandywine Creek scenario.

I've just noticed there are a bunch of general AWI notes in the Brandywine Creek scenario setup. These aren't relevant to the scenario.

The only Special rules are;

• The Americans use the Spanish blocks and are treated as Spanish in all respects.
• American units may not form squares
• The Portuguese units represent Hessian units, which are treated as British in all respects except that Line Infantry melee with 1 additional die.
• The Spanish Guerrilla Action rule is not in effect.
• The River is not fordable except at the fords.

hope that hasn't confused anyone.

Round 4 Camden
Mark McG(American) 7 banners 30 blocks lost
Grondeaux(British) 5 banners 37 blocks lost

A see-saw battle of thrust and repartee. The dice started cold, and gradually thawed over the match. A British cavalry charge was simply lifting whole units off the map.

For me the militia behaved like heroes, or at least credibly. Only 1 Militia unit lost, but another took a beating. None the less, they turned back the British Light infantry. Thereafter it became the American Centre and Left turning back successive British assaults, whilst the American Right launched a careful advance.

Round 3 Brandywine Creek

Mark McG: British, 6 Banners, 19 Blocks Lost
nekegren: American, 2 Banners, 35 Blocks Lost

A tough slog after a good start by the Brits on the Left. Mid game the Brits had run out of push and the maneuver began. A classic match between quality vs quantity, with the Americans cycling new units in to replace the injured, and a very successful Rally.

Americans ventured across the Creek on their left, which pushed the Brits hard, but ultimately cost the Americans more than they gained. The finale was the British Dragoons finally getting into the rear and polishing off the remnants of 2 units.

Round 4 Camden

Tanris: American, 7 banners, 28 blocks lost
nekengren: British, 6 banners, 37 blocks lost

It was a hard fought battle by both sides.

The British sent their light infantry up their right flank but were repulsed by American militia. British cavalry charged in after to take advantage of the weakened American left flank and almost caused the line to break until American line infantry moved up to relief the broken militia. The fighting on the British right was fierce and in a last ditch effort the Americans sent the last of their cavalry down the British right flank and as they were fighting to the last man an American infantry charge against the British left just barely won the day at Camden for the Americans.

It was a really close match and could have gone either way through the whole thing!

Round 1 Bunker Hill (17 June 1775)
Tanis (American) 5 banners - 32 blocks lost
theimann (British) 8 banners - 23 blocks lost

After some initial Naval bombardment the British flanks advanced with mixed results that halted their advance but sent some American militia packing back to their farms.
This action gave the British time to coordinate a center advance that proved unstoppable, a series of forced marches combined with British elan swept the American rabble from the hill. This was not without the British losing both Commanders from American sniping.

This rebellion should be over before Fall.

Round 4 Camden
Charles (Americans) w 7 banners - 25 blocks lost
Chris Trout (British) 4 banners - 37 blocks lost

Short match summary
The Brits advanced and were slaughtering the americans... a horribly failed cavalry charge didnt go well and left 2 cavs stuck on the back end of the battlefield. Cornwallis had a field day with this. The Americans retreated and regrouped, and made the best use of their artillery as they could. Finally a bayonet charge saved the day for the Americans

I would like to say the british player really needs an objective in this scenario. Chris played very much like the british would have but I can see some british players not advancing against the american line (stand +1 is tough to face)

Great game Chris!

Round 5 Monmouth

Mark McG: British, 7 Banners, 3 Blocks Lost
theimann: American, 0 Banners, 23 Blocks Lost

This was a magical game, where no matter what I did things went well, and no harm came to me.
I've been giving dicings, and I've dealt out dicings, but this is probably the most extreme case I've ever seen. I tip my hat to Tom for taking it in a gentlemanly manner.

Also, bad news for the Colonials. Your Continent Army is defeated, and your General Washington lies dead on the field. Today the rebellion has ended. :pinch: :woohoo: (mdg)
