4. A Borodino team tournament (3 vs 3).. or Aspern-Essling

Sounds interesting, what are the rules about the Teams?

Otherwise, a normal russian MT again would be also fine.

"The Death of an Army" and choosing the scenarios between
210) Borodino - Shevardino Redoubt) and
217) Crossing the Berezina

Team event might be a better description.
Players either form or are assigned to teams of 3.

The team pre-assigns one player to each each of Scenarios 211-213, each of which takes place on 7 Sept. 1812, approximately concurrently. The idea being a player plays 1 scenario. So the match ups would be determined by each team without knowledge of which opponent they would face. Ideally, a common day would be found to play all 3 matches at the same date, or even the same hour if possible, however, that isn't compulsory.

Of the 3 scenarios, 2 are pro-French (7 banners each) and 1 pro-Russian (10 banners). The team that wins most combined banners wins. There is no other sharing of units, cards etc.

I had overlooked a match result, so the Alpha Semi-Final is;

I had also overlooked that Rudi can still tie with Greg, and looks like he can get a result in the very near future. So it may yet come to a block count tie breaker to determine whether it is Rudi or Greg facing Michal.

My apologies for the misleading information here, a head cold is giving me the attention span of a flea.

Rudi very narrowly lost his match vs Charles, but that means he can't tie with Greg.
So the Alpha Semi-Final returns to being Michalxo vs Greg O.

Round Semi-Final 2 Craonne
Mark McG (French) 10 banners - 28 blocks lost
Charlescob (Russian) 4 banners - 39 blocks lost

A very circumspect French attack, pushing first on the Right, then on the Left. Never in the Centre.
The French cavalry put the Russians into square and left them there to limit the Russian actions. Trying to win, but not lose any units.

Final 1 result
Waterloo (with Walled Farms)
Greg O (French) 8 banners won, 30 blocks lost
Mark McG (Allies) 4 banners won, 33 blocks lost

Greg and I played the first Final game this morning (my time) which Greg as the French won handily 8-4. Papelotte fell first, but then the Allied Left went quiet (which was just as well, I had all Right cards). The Dutch Light ran, but the canon got him as he crested the ridge. Towards the end of the game I Short Supplied the Young Guard out of Papelotte to get back that banner.

The next push was against the Allied Right, which the British Light held out against, reinforced by the Dutch for most of the game. Hougoumont ultimately fell, sealing my fate, but it was a bloody battle. La Haye Sainte held against a bit of pressure, under the hammer of artillery blows the Brit Line was destroyed, and replaced by the Dutch.

One of those matches where just a little bit of luck and the score could have been much closer. Mostly it was rather pitiful rolling for both of us, but for me it was those irksome rolls where you choose between two targets, and whatever you roll, it would have been perfect for the other target!!

So now I have my work cut out for me, an 8-3 win with the French, and that means being very, very careful. Not my strong suit at all. Final 2 should be on July 6 2100 GMT.

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever.

Final 2 result
Waterloo (with Walled Farms)
Greg O (Allies) 8 banners won, 37 blocks lost
Mark McG (French) 4 banners won, 31 blocks lost

Mark and I completed the second Final game, with the same score as last time, but I was fortunate to win 8-4 as allies in this match. The big action through most of the game was on the French left, and the Allies were fortunate to have the cards and luck to push a lot of forces in there, hold the objective and grind down the French. Center was quiet besides some arty fires between sides, and the game finished with some action on the right, but more on the left again.

It was another tough game for Mark, but he played it hard all the way but my cards and luck were too much I think.

Congrats to Mark for getting to the final, something that has eluded me for a long time. I feel blessed to have made it to the end and enjoyed all the fine opponents and games as is always the case with our group!
