Round 1 - Roliça
Game 1
French - Mark McG - 5 banners
Allies - Greg O - 1 banner

Knowing the Portuguese to be the weakness, the French force marched left after some initial organisation, and to counter a nasty looking LGM by the Brits up their Left flank.
Naturally things didn't go as planned, but the French stumbled home ith the added benefit of capturing Wellesley. He was exchanged for a joint of roast beef.

Game 2
French - Greg O - 5 banners
Allies - Mark McG - 4 banners

Knowing the Portuguese to be the weakness, they immediately fled to the trees. The French still came on towards them, and whilst a cavalry charge slowed the French and put the Heavy cavalry onto the hill, followed by a Bayonet charge into the squares, it was still the Portuguese that dropped the ball, with 4 of the 5 lost banners theirs. The 5th banners was the British Heavy cavalry, unreliable as always. Trant taken prisoner this time, but Wellesley survives to offer his resignation to the Horse Guards.

Game 2
GonzoJoe (French) 5 banners
S. Fatemi (Allies) 2 banners
Dice all over the place in this one for both sides.  French shift left, Cav charge followed by Bayonet charge collapsed that flank.  My opponent is catching on fast.  Very tight match 8-7.  Thanks for the games Sahem

Round 1, game 1

French (Giulio): 5 medals
British (Philippe): 0 medals

Poor dice really ruined the day for the British army. The brits move to the left, joining forces with the Portuguese. This is the side where the French decided to attack (due to my cards, I did not have many choices). French move boldly in the center, toward the left, advancing infantry and artillery. The British lack the cards to effectively stop them. Once in close combat, the French infantry, supported by the cavalry, does the job. Philippe paid dearly the decision of not going into square against a French cav. Despite being full strength, the Portuguese infantry was destroyed, and the reduced light behind it faced the same fate. This pretty much decided the outcome of the game.

Hello everybody !

...the truth is that I really was very lucky the other day...

Thanks to the organization for wellcoming me to this tournament. It's the first time that I play online and with people of other countries. And I beg your pardon because my english is very bad and I'm afraid I won't be able to talk fluently with you. Anyway, I'm happy to know you and to play with you to one of my favourite games.

See you soon!

Justin and I played our home and away games of Rollica today.

1st game: Renaud (French) 4 vs Justin (Anglo-Portuguese) 5
2nd game: Renaud (Anglo-Portuguese) 5 vs Justin (French) 0
Match: Renaud 9 vs Justin 5

Here are the AARs I wrote for my gaming group's FB page:

1st game:

A rollicking CCN game with Justin in our International Tournament @ Rollica (see what I did?). Most of the early action is on the flanks, but only results in fair exchanges. Justin with the Anglo-Portuguese gets moving in the center. We both get bloody noses, but he gets the upper hand. I disengage with a Grand Maneuver, and the game stands at 4-2 for the bad guys, but I left a flank door open to his light cavalry to take one of the hill objectives on my rear line and give him his last VP in the next British turn, and there's nothing I can do about it. However, one of his attacks whiffs. Wellesley with a full complement of British line attacks Delaborde and his artillery. No hits! The artillery battles back, and kills the line, but fails to kill Wellesley. It's now only 4-3 for the bad guys, and my turn is coming. My cards suck. There are two 1-block British units, but I can only attack one. Dispair... I choose to fire at Wellesley who has retreated onto one of the 1-block units. I kill the unit. 4-4! But I again fail to kill Wellesley. The British turn comes with the automatic 5th VP. End of game.

2nd game:

2nd leg of our home and away game of Rollica. This one was much more one-sided... in my favor. I had the cards and I moved on the flanks, destroyed 3 units and captured both objectives. Delaborde left the field dishonorably. I could have tried to catch him on the way out, but I--right or wrong--favored capturing one of the objectives. My opponent had 3 Fire & Hold cards and could only use 1 as I gave him little in the way of targets and pressured him in hand-to-hand combat on the flanks. 5-0 this leg, 9-5 on both legs.

Round 1, game 2

British (Giulio): 5 medals
French (Philippe): 3 medals

Very nice cards for the Allies this time: one bayonet charge in the initial hand and another received playing a scout early in the game. With this little treasure, I played confidently. The French organized a great attack on their left flank, massing a lot of infantry troops. My troops were apparently struck in the center but with the two cards I mentioned before they moved fast to intercept the French once they decided to move to the attack. Good initial rolls inflicted too many losses for the French to recover, despite Philippe's skillful play.

Round 2 - VimieroGame 1Mark McG (French) - 6 bannersPaul (Allies) - 3 bannersSolignac on the French right conducted an efficient attack that drove the English back with substantial losses.Very little action on the French left, and a French cavalry sortee in the Centre. Eventually the English attacked in the Centre rather than lose by attrition on the left, and this gained them a few banners but ultimately the losses there broke them.Game 2 Paul (French) - 1 bannerMark McG (Allies) - 6 bannersFrench attacks were fairly piecemeal across the front, and mostly unable to drive in. English firepower turned back most attacks, despite an inauspicious start, and a series if defensive Tactician cards made those French attacks that made it to the English lines mostly ineffective. The English riposte was much better, and the losses amongst the French cavalry were high. Don't think the French artillery ever fired.Attachments are using the v4.0a66 module, which is a Beta version of the new CCN module.
