Round 2 014 Quatre Bras
Bayernkini (French) 9 banners won, 30 blocks lost
MichalK (Allies) 5 banner won, 37 blocks lost

Michal had a good chance to win, because i had no left cards. My left units was trapped a long time and hit by his units and he could also destroy my right ART.
Finally i could regroup my units on right (had most right cards)
and with a little luck i could win finally.

My dice are the hell!

Round 2 014 Quatre Bras

EZ Pickens (French) 3 banners won, 49 blocks lost
toddrew (Allies) 9 banners won, 28 blocks lost

Long-ish game, approaching three hours. Most of the action took place in the forests of the Allies left/French right, with a brief skirmish on the hills in the allied half of the board mid-game.

Hero of the game for the Allied side was the Militia unit that was able to get in the way enough to keep the French push at bay until the Guard could move up. Decisive point of battle was when the Crussiers made their push, a First Strike from a two-block forest-entrenched artillery hit twice, nerfing the attack and enabling the relatively weak allied cavalry to charge and finish off one Crussier unit and repel the other.

Had some connection issues, will get the logfile put together and posted later.

Round 3 B015 Waterloo

EZPickins (French) 8 banners won, 38 blocks lost
Theimman (Allies) 7 banners won, 34 blocks lost

A very tight game that could have gone either way. The Allies were the more aggressive with most of the fighting on the French side of the board. The Allies attached all along the front with extra pressure on the flanks. The French were unable to take a victory location and took more casualties but a couple breaks enabled them to get the winning banner. Luck and cards were pretty evenly distributed. I think we both had a great time. Tom was a very tough opponent.

Round 2 014 Quatre Bras
Mark McG (French) 9 banners won, 30 blocks lost
Tarheel (Allies) 4 banner won, 39 blocks lost

Metagaming on display here, and both wanted to build up a banner count to make the Semi-Finals.

French action started with a Bombardment where the Dutch fled off the ridge, then a Forced March up the Left. Turn after turn of dogged fighting on the French left saw the Dutch worn away, alibi at a cost to the French. In the end this flank wore out, with the exception of a Gren Guard that went about killing 1 block refugees in the French backfield.

A series of Bayonet Charges, initiated by the Allies, in the Centre saw the French on the brink of disaster, but a timely and successful French cavalry charge and Elan card seemed to correct the situation, and a lucky flag on a Dutch square sent them home. Again the French cavalry saved my bacon.

A last bayonet charge by the Allies to secure 2 banners did so, but also gave me the 9th on a battleback. Once battle was joined it was pretty furious every turn here. All over in 80 minutes.

Round 5
Scenario 419 Plancenoit
Scipio (Allies) 9 banners won, 31 blocks lost
Plainscape (Frenchies) 6 banners won, 27 blocks lost

The Guard moved up in strength right away with a Grand Maneuvre, but Allied range attacks cut many of them down to size. A close game, but Allied took the church and a town for the final 2 banners.

Point of clarification for this scenario - I think it would be best if the most banners the french could get is 9. I think that is the intention, but it is certainly possible to get more than 9 by capturing Quatre Bras after having 8 or more other banners, or simply wiping out as many Allied units as possible without ever capturing Quatre Bras.

I'm not entirely comfortable with the prospect of draw results in the Semi-Final, so I think record the actual banner count, and let's hope it is a moot point. Just not enough 1815 scenarios really.

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever.

Semi-final

Game 1: Scipio 7 (Allies) - Todd 9 (France), 44-39

Game 2: Scipio 9 (France) - Todd 7 (Allies), 28-42

Todd and I took up a lot of each other's day over Quatre Bras; France took both games but the butchery of game 1 tipped the block count in my favor. The second game saw do-overs, overlooked reinforcements, and a lot of snarky comments back and forth to help ease the pain as the blocks piled up off-board. Thanks Todd.

So with tied banners, the block loss becomes the tie breaker

Scipio lost 44 + 28 blocks = 72 blocks
Todd lost 39 + 42 = 81 blocks

so Scipio into the Finals

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever.
