Play be e-mail

I am wondering if C&C Napoelonics has any chance of being played by e-mail.
I do see some serious problems that could disable such play:

1) The card deck - if players do not know what cards are on the top of the draw pile how can we create two identical card decks for both players without giving them information of the cards that are drawn by the opponent?

2) During a player's turn the opponent may react on many occasions (First strike, forming square, battling back, retiring and reforming, retreating) and in all cases play will be slowed down because tons of e-mails will have to be exchanged...

3) Dice rolling = possibility of cheating. You will have to trust your opponent that he is not cheating.

Do you think that these issues "kill" the possibility of playing by e-mail?

I am wondering if the ACTS Warhorse website could pick this game up. A very good site for card driven games that addresses your concerns you bring up.

The 3 problems you mentioned are a definite hit in every case. I play chess with a friend by e-mail but there is no cards or dice rollings. I have thought on that topic, ( e-mail boardgaming ), the possibility to bring live webcam dicing maybe would eliminate problem #3, but for the remaining two...!?

Vassel engine gets rid of the problems but leave one running and it is time availability. while e-mailing takes care of that. Not everyone is available at all time. Family, work, etc. take big chunks of weekly time.

So, i'm with you on this e-mail play, but the problems remains. For now.

It easy to play on Vassal by email. I exchange moves with a gentleman in Rome Italy and we have lots of fun.
