Chanced across this website whilst thinking on how to use the old CCN Command Deck
CCN-based ECW Rules

Looks quite interesting, and whilst I think it could be some work to print it all out, I think it could work on a casual basis using the old 70 card CCN deck, changing Bayonet Charge to Bold Dragoons, and perhaps an Event roll at the start of each turn (the Chaunce cards seem more like a Random Event than a Tactics card).

I haven't tried it, but I'm intrigued.
Needs a good scenario archive though. Best I could find was this one
ECW – The Battle of Auchinrivoch (1645)
&
ECW - Boldon Hill, 24th March 1644

Interesting. Some tweaking should get your ideas to cover the whole pike and shot period. I need to have a go. Thanks for posting.

these aren't my ideas, I just stumbled across it and thought it interesting.

I contacted the Blog owner and asked about scenarios, but he didn't have any records. He makes them up according to the historical records, but aside from the Blog doesn't seem to record the setup.

The Blog owner is very pleased if someone wishes to try my CCN variant game - I wish to point out that the game includes its own Command Cards, specific to the period, and the Chaunce cards (Events) are kept as a separate stack entirely because the history of the ECW is stuffed with one-off incidents (exploding powder carts and bad intelligence etc) which changed battles, but which would be rare enough to become stupid if they always appeared in a game. Thus the specific cards were designed for this game. Which doesn't mean, of course that you can't use the original CCN set with any necessary tweaks

As for drawing up and maintaining a collection of scenarios - I don't think so. I play this game, mostly solo, as an extension to my campaign activities, and I am happy to believe that anyone wishing to use it has the wit to draw up their own games, based on history or whatever personal script they have handy.

I'm very happy to handle any questions or suggestions, but the game is entirely a shareware effort for my own amusement - if someone tries the rules and enjoys them then I'm delighted, but if anyone hates them or despises them, please just try something else! :)

Best regards - Tony
