Grenadiers, Lancers, Battle back & First strike

We recently have noticed that spanish & russian grenadiers battle back with one dice less (as written in the rules) ; we learn a little more each day...
When playing First strike on a Grenadiers unit, is this one fight with its dices like when attacking (same question for Lancers using a First strike with their ability about flags) ?

That´s a mistake in the rulebook and in meantime clarified by Richard Borg!

All Grenadiers battles in melee (indifferent which kind of melee) with his current numbers of blocks (dice) +1.

Sadly i don´t understand your question right. A better example would help more.

Which unit, with which strength battles first against which another unit, and which strength this unit have?

And the best example is always a little picture from the vassal module, which shows exact the units, which battles, the terrain, and there (block-) strength :)

Thanks for the grenadiers (So, they fight at +1 in attack and battle back (melee) all the time ; It seems strange that the error appears two times in spanish and russian expansions rulebooks).
If we consider a First strike like an attack, do the french Lancers have their bonus on flags like when they're attacking (like Heavy chariots in CCA 4 dices attacking, 3 when battling back ; when using First strike, they roll 4 dices instead of 3)

Ok, now i understand your Lancer question ;)

Lancer reroll all their initial flags, if the Lancers are the Attacker!
That means, it´s the lancers players turn, he orders lancers and choose to attack!

They are still the initial attacker, also if the defending unit use a First Strike and battles first.
In this case the lancers battles after the defending unit but because they are still the initial Attackers, they have still the "Lancer" skill and may reroll the flags results then.

Yes, but if Lancers are the Defender and play First strike, do we consider them as attacker and then give their bonus Lancers re-roll on flags ?

The Lancer are ONLY ATTACKER, if its there own turn, as i wrote.

A First Strike changes not the Attacker or Defender status, it only change the order of the battle!

Thanks for the clarification on Grenadier melee dice. Do you have a link for Richard's comment?
