Sansmerci (French) 8 banners
mk20336 (Allies) 4 banners
Congrats to Michal winner overall 12 banners to 9 banners. The action started in the center as French Lt moved onto the woods and shot at the Bavarians with little effect. A counter attack cleared the woods of two French units but did little damage also. At this point the French played a Rally CC hoping to get one or two Inf but only gat a lone cavalry to play. Only needing two banners to win the tourney Michal used a cavalry charge to kill the lone LC and a single block LC killed a two block CU and its leader. The banner count was now 4-2 allies. A French right flank attack with combined arms made it 4-4. French attacks in the center made it 6-4 French. The game ended with a French Recon CC and a Lt unit took out a two block Bavarian and its leader at range. This was a lot of fun. Look forward to playing in the Open Tournament.
thanks for summary. Indeed, hit ratio is significantly different (I would not have patience to count it:))
I have a feeling that the percentage might have something to do with the fact that I mostly attacked Infantry units (always at least 1/3 probability) while I was attacked mainly at ARR or CAV on my right wing (1/6 probability).
Anyhow, pulling out 1 block units was against my usual way of playing, where "kamikaze" (especially with additional dice like thanks to Elan) would normally attack. This time patience ad hiding them paid out...
MD16 Hanau 30 October 1813
Michal played a very good game as the banner count shows. Some times the dice are hell as Bayernkini puts it. The big difference in this game was that the French protected the one and two block units with moves to the forest and the Bavarians had only open spaces. Very well played by Michal. He had single roll 4 block kills 3 times the last one with Napoleon leading taking out a leader as well. At the end of the game I told Michal that he got hits 80% of the time because it seemed that way. The actual count was 67 die rolls 32 hits or 48%. The cross eyed Bavarians got 23 hits on 73 die rolls or 32%. Aggressive play with bad dice can get you killed and Michal did that. I have put myself in a bad position for the final game but this has been fun every game played in this tournament win or lose.

Sansmerci (Bavarians) 1 Banner won 32 blocks lost
MichalK (French) 8 Banners won 23 blocks lost
I started with French attacking in center; it was pretty good in the beginning, but then my cards run out. It seems that Steve also run out of cards in center, moving his focus to my right. There war of attrition between cavalry started, but first Steve destroyed one of my ARTs, reducing second to 1 block! In the end French numbers prevailed, but it was close to collapse.
Then action moved to my left and center, where good cards (Le Grand Manevoure, Assault Left, Leadership) and good rolls allowed me to pull out 1 block units and win the game.
Definitely, the result is not reflecting the game and the block result is much more approximation of what was going on. Thanks to Steve for organizing game with minimal lead time!
Should any of you would like to watch second game, we play Monday, September 12th, at 1900 GMT.
The scenario is Hanau

Plainscape (Russian) 10 Banners won 46 Blocks lost
Sansmerci (French) 7 Banners won 31 Blocks lost
This was a long intense game that moved from section to section. Todds Russians started in the center pushing the French out of Eustritzsch damaging several French units but killing none. The action changed to the French left using Bayonet Charges and Marches to clear Gohlis. The French could only react to the Russian moves slowly getting banners along the way. The game ended with cavalry action on the French right with the bridge taken and the French LT destroyed. The dice where frustrating in this game for both sides excellent odds on rolls would yield little or nothing. The Russians won both our matches luckily for me the banner count was slightly in my favor 17 to 14. My logfile did not save maybe Todd could attach his.

Plainscape (French) 4 Banners won 33 blocks lost
Sansmerci (Russian) 10 Banners won 25 blocks lost
This game was certainly closer than the banner count. The first half took place in the center around Eutritzsch and was a draw. Then Todd played a bayonet charge which killed two Russian inf but left his troops beaten up and eventually losing three of the four that attacked. A lucky short supply tactic card moved his art off the hill in the center and opened the way for the Russians. Cavalry battles ended the match with a French LT destroyed on the bridge at Naundorf and a LC dying on the right. The game could have gone the other way had Todds dice not gone cold several times.
Now when Todd is back from vacations, I hope you guys will have time to play the reverse so we can move to finale

512 Gohlis 17 October 1813
Bayernkini (French) 7 Banners won 32 blocks lost
MichalK (Russian) 10 Banners won 36 blocks lost
Result similar to our first game. Very bloody game (see blocks lost count).
The game started with Russian attack in center and gradually resulted in taking both hexes of Eutritzsch. From my perspective small Cossack regiment was here key to success. I then tried attack with my left cavalry which was not so successful. Some rolls of Michael were also not the ones which you expect based on probability... However, he had like 3 FS cards while I have none

In the end I got Forced March end managed to move majority of my troops in center. Last moments of game were cat-and-mouse game, but the bridge on Parthe Stream switched balance in Allies side finally.
I have learnt a lot from Michael in both games for which I am very grateful. Hope to use those new tricks in final!
I would also like to apologize for my lack of effort to finish the rest of my games in this tournament due to various busyness and traveling. And I apparently also made a mistake in posting the result of one of the matches. I'm sorry about it all and I'm happy to see there's coming some completion to the tournament. The games I played here with everyone were very enjoyable and I hope you are all well.
Kind regards

MichalK (French) 10 Banners won 26 blocks lost
Bayernkini (Russian) 7 Banners won 39 blocks lost
Tough game for French. Russians very quickly came with all their forces in the center (after quite good MR roll). Battle was on the verge - both infantry skirmish as well as cavalry charges. In the end French were successfully, repealing both attacks. And then game of cat and mouse started, where Michael was able to pick some of my units and I was looking for a final blow. Finally, the last round saw 4 CAV scored on 5d roll, as well as 2 INF on 2d roll - which broke allies and allowed French victory. Close game, almost no action on French left /Allied right. Reverse to be played soon.
Close game and as always with Michael - stretching you to your very limits...

Sorry, I didnt look closely enough and scheduled a meeting with GregO, but now that I am looking above, it seems clear he is not one of my opponents. I am leaving by plane to Alaska in the AM for a 2 week cruise. Will need to play my matches upon returning.
Also, is there a list of opponents email addresses available so that I might get in touch with them? i am at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Being semi-retired, June was decently free with time. For July, I have quite a heavy schedule with some wargames also penned in on some dates when I am not working. Unfortunately, nobody contacted me re catching up with their schedule. I won't be able to help out this month as a stooge opponent.

I can probably complete his schedule or a slab of it if it means keeping your tournament on keel. though of course it depends when. I am available over the next 2 days during the day.

I am very very sorry to not to be abel to play my games. For hose who have played with me in the Ancients tournaments, they would know that I am normally pretty reliable and on time with my gaming and scheduling. Unfortunately, this year my yacht racing has become a big burden with 7 times of 10 days traveling to different parts of the world. Together with this due to my job I have to travel at least twice each week to really places with limited acsess like Turkmenistan or Bali etc.
So sadly I was not able to schedule and play my games. I sincerely apologies from all of you due to this disturbance and I hope that you will not hold this against me since I really enjoy being a part of this fun and challenging group.
Looking forward to play against all of you in the Coming Tournaments in he winter.
Thanking in advance for all your understanding
Sşncerely,
Togan Alper
