Historical Background

After having snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in 1101, Baldwin repeated his reckless tactics against a new Fatimid army on the same battlefield only eight month later. In May 1102, Sharaf-al-Ma’ali marched on Ramla with about the same size Egyptian army as in 1101. Baldwin believed this was only a raiding force and did not wait for his foot soldiers or additional reinforcements. With only a few hundred knights, Baldwin, Stephen of Blois and Stephen of Burgundy, rode straight at the hostile center hoping to repeat the exploits of the previous year.
This time the odds were too great, and with no infantry with them to take off some of the pressure, only a few Crusaders managed to escape. Unfortunately, one of them was Baldwin.
The stage is set. The battle lines are drawn and you are in command. Can you change history?

Crusaders routinely accepted battle when outnumbered, but when hubris overruled prudence, disasters such as this occurred. Years later a similar disaster transpired at Cresson Springs where hundreds of Military Order knights perished. Had they survived, they might have prevented the even greater disaster of the Crusader defeat at Hattin a few months later.

A 6-5 win to the Fatimids followed by a 6-4 win to the Crusaders.  Game 1 had lots of Fatimid shooting to weaken the Crusaders but even then the Crusaders almost stole victory, whereas game 2, a win to the Crusaders, saw the Fatimids barely get a shot off.
